Introduction In 2023, Queensland saw a significant surge in domestic violence orders (DVO), with a 21.6% increase, equating to 6,958 additional incidents compared to the previous year. This alarming rise highlights a humanitarian and national crisis, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced support systems, fortified legal protections, and comprehensive services to combat domestic violence. Initiative Overview: PASS THE TORCH The Birch Foundation and Jireh Impact Foundation have united to organize PASSING THE TORCH (PTT), a relay running/walking event that symbolises solidarity, empowerment, and collective responsibility in the fight against domestic violence. Objectives Connecting Survivors: Establishing a supportive network where survivors can share their experiences and find strength in the community. Passing Hope: Spreading a message of resilience, optimism, and hope for a future free from domestic violence. Transferring Strength: Empowering individuals and the community through collective strength and commitment to change. Event Details Date: 9th November 2024 Venue: Surf City, Surfers Paradise, QLD
