The automation of consulting work via generative AI and other similar tools is happening both within firms and via a growing number of start-ups looking to disrupt the sector. One example of this is Pathfindr, a start-up that uses generative AI to help clients themselves deploy AI in their operations. Co-founded by former Accenture managing director Dawid Naude, the start-up offers a fixed-price service that speeds up the process consultants go through to assess client operations and then suggests how the company could use AI longer term. A demonstration of the service showed just how much bread and butter consulting work could be automated via a workflow. Naude and others I've spoken to from the big firms believe that the era of generalist consultants is ending. I'm sure there are lots of strong opinions about this out there. Very excited to share the deep dive into our startup featured online today in the AFR - in print tomorrow. For those who don’t have an AFR sub - we use AI to do AI! across our requirements gathering, artefact creation, development. Our platform is called ‘Sparky’ and it uses AI to perform requirements interviews, deliverables - so we can spend our time on serious problem solving. It’s how we’ve been able to deliver fixed price successful engagements with the biggest firms in Australia with 1-2 people at a time. To quote one recent client ‘we’re not used to vendors working this fast’. I’m hugely proud of the work the team has done. It’s also a bit of a moment for us - we took a huge leap 10 months ago starting an AI business without investment, not really of sure of how where it would go - but we were very certain that if we could leverage human + AI at the core of our process, we could stand out. Of course - we’d love to chat with any business about where they are in their AI journey and what to do next.
