We're proud to be featured on BBC's Surgeons: At the Edge of Life (Episode 3: The Best Laid Plans)! Witness the incredible skill of Mr. Amir Qureshi as he performs a complex four-part osteotomy on Bruno. This life-changing procedure aims to correct Bruno's severely bowed legs, which have caused him constant pain and a high risk of fracture. Personalised Surgery's Smart Osteotomy System played a crucial role in achieving exceptional precision during the surgery. Our 3D-printed cutting jigs, developed by CTO & Lead Engineer Samuel Grasso, provided Mr. Amir Qureshi with the necessary level of accuracy for this complicated procedure. This episode highlights the power of collaboration between surgeons and engineers. Personalised Surgery empowers medical professionals with the tools they need to navigate even the most intricate knee osteotomy procedures. See how our innovative system is transforming patient care! What a weekend! It has been a big 72hrs for our team, presenting a number of our #orthopaedic #research studies that are the culmination of several years of effort; while providing a perfect opportunity to reflect on my amazing colleagues who truly are leaders in our field. It is an absolute privilege to work alongside Jay Ebert and Myles Murphy as part of our research team at Orthopaedic Research Foundation of Western Australia , both winning BEST PAPER prizes at the Sports Medicine Australia Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ACSEP) conference in Melbourne for our Randomised Controlled Trials on #rehab after #hamstring repair and #transcranial stimulation after #aclreconstruction, for which Myles also won the ‘Best of the Best’ and the prestigious ASICS medal. At the same time Jo McEwan and I were on the Gold Coast at #australiankneesociety presenting on our 3rd #rct, a Double Blinded trial investigating single/dual tendon ACL reconstruction and tibial fixation techniques, along with #osteotomy and #multiligament knee reconstruction. 3 RCTs, 2 prizes and 6 presentations in one weekend! 🦴 BKS workshop with Personalised Surgery Smart Osteotomy system complete!! Rounding off an excellent month of BBC exposure and first surgeries, we were premium plus sponsor at the Biological Knee Society meeting in Birmingham this week. Amir Qureshi and Samuel Grasso presented on the Personalised Surgery design platform and workflow before delegates got hands on with the workshop kit, carrying out a HTO with PSI jigs. A very exciting time for osteotomy in the UK as more surgeons look to preserve the knee and improve patient outcomes. Thanks to Megan James for her help with power tools. 🚀 Health innovation to the UK in market visit is go! A great first day yesterday in the Investment NSW London office in Australia Centre with our cohort and some special guests… 🍎 We heard from Dr Lloyd Humphreys from Cogniss about NSW company Cogniss’ experience with setting up in the UK and why it’s a great time for innovators to work with the NHS. Key takeaways: - The UK is very digitally enabled and therefore ready to accept digital health solutions - The NHS is a huge beast and innovators should make it easy for the NHS to buy from them - Don’t be afraid of “co-opertition” – cooperating with your competitors - Find your niche and then exploit it - Face time in the UK when looking to expand is important – Cogniss made sure they were in market A LOT and were one of the early users of our Investment NSW landing pad in Australia Centre (our desks & meeting rooms which are free to use for NSW companies) 🍎 Rupert Lewis from Oyster Venture Partners joined us to talk to the funding landscape in the UK health sector. Key takeaways: - Team is important; especially in pre-revenue companies. Deep sector knowledge and commercialisation experience is highly valued - Networking is important; connect to anyone and everyone - Start to get to know your potential investors early; relationships are key 🍎 James Campbell and Tad Marinic from Walmer Group ran us through R&D tax incentives in the UK. Key takeaways: - R&D can be confusing! In recent years there have been a lot of changes to the UK schemes, but there are people who can help you understand it - There have been changes to what you can and can’t claim, including additions of pure mathematics and cloud computing 🍎 Joanna Auburn and Beau Bartlett then took us through why the NHS sustainability requirements are important for health innovation businesses. Key takeaways: - The Climate Change Act commits the UK government by law to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 100% of 1990 levels (net zero) by 2050 - Mandatory climate reporting will amplify green suppliers as preferred suppliers - 65% of staff expect their employer to take action against climate change - Companies that marketed their sustainability credentials grew 40% faster than those that didn’t Thanks so much to all of these wonderful people who gave up their time for free – if any of their businesses resonate with you, I’d encourage you to reach out!
