∘ TMR PRE-START MEETING ∘ A huge milestone occurred last week as we held the pre-start meeting with the Department of Transport & Main Roads for the Yarrow Road intersection project in #Ipswich. This project involves the construction of new traffic intersection on a State Controlled Road Corridor and has been many years of work from the consultant team to get to this point. Our Petrie™ team have been managing the project team including our civil engineer Hunt Michel & Partners and our electrical engineer J & P Richardson Industries to get the designs approved by all parties. We have worked tirelessly with all the authorities involved in this project including TMR, Energex, Telstra, nbn® Australia, Urban Utilities and Ipswich City Council. We are very excited to reach this milestone and to have our civil contractor engaged and commence construction. ∘ GENERAL POST OFFICE ∘ In 1872, Petrie secured the tender to construct the Brisbane General Post Office (GPO) with a bid of £6,708. After several plan alterations, the final contract value was £7,450. The GPO was designed in the Neo-Classical Italian style to suit Brisbane's semi-tropical climate while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The project originally featured a central tower, with a southern Telegraph Wing added in 1879. By 1880, the GPO housed Brisbane’s first telephone exchange and served as a key telegram distribution centre. Over the years, the building underwent several modifications, including a three-storey addition in 1908 and various extensions throughout the 20th century, reflecting the evolving needs of Queensland's communication services. Petrie's clay pit in Albion provided the bricks for this extension. The GPO remains a prominent historic structure in Brisbane, integral to the city's CBD and architectural heritage. ∘ BUMSTEAD RD PARK RIDGE ∘ The last year has seen great progress at our 35 lot land subdivision project in Park Ridge with nearly all houses constructed now! 🏡 This milestone means we can now complete for Logan City Council the bio-basin, which is a  a stormwater management system designed to filter and treat rainwater runoff before it enters the local creeks. ∘ CAMPBELL HOUSE ∘ The hard work from our architecture and interiors team is being realised as MWH Constructions continues to make great progress on this amazing bespoke house in Samford Valley. The project is really starting to take shape with the roof now installed and framing completed. Georgia Mintram in our team has done a spectacular effort on the full interiors package that has included conceptual mood boards, detailed joinery plans, joinery 3d drawings, finishes selections and renders for our client. ∘ STAFF MILESTONE ∘ We are excited to celebrate the recent 3rd work anniversary of Nikayla Kiers, our incredible Development Manager 🌟 It has been amazing to watch her grow over the years and take on new challenges with confidence.
