"While in-person assessments continue to be required, this study shows the benefits of telemedicine for the individual and organization in terms of time-saved commuting, as compared to having to attend for in-person assessment, adding to the results of previous studies in this area"

Recently published research from Curtin University has revealed Australian welders are at risk from the fumes they are exposed to from the welding process - due to a lack of appropriate controls and health management. The online survey-based research sought to investigate the exposure to welding fume and use of control measures. (Link to article in comments) Welding fume - a mixture of fine particles and gases when heated above its boiling point - is a known carcinogen. Adding to the mix, other carcinogenic metals were also present in many exposures - such as hexavalent chromium and nickel. Health surveillance is the last step to check if the hierarchy of controls (including PPE) are effective in protecting the health of workers. Employ welders?
