Months ago, we faced a safety challenge in Latin America. The tyres on this Latin American mine’s rigid dump trucks were performing exceptionally well, with some of them lasting up to 10,000 hours. Once the 10K mark was reached, tyres were removed before any separation could occur. Great. So where’s the challenge? Despite these precautions, the team still battled with unplanned downtime, heat separations before the 10K mark, and heightened safety risks. This not only caused operational interruptions but also exposed personnel and equipment to significant danger. We knew we had to act decisively to safeguard workers and operations.
