A provider of essential services to almost every Territorian, including those in 72 remote communities, we're acutely aware of our responsibilities in the reconciliation space. Part of our vision for reconciliation is to be a culturally diverse organisation where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people feel respected, safe and valued, whether they're a trusted member of our team or one of the thousands of people we provide services to. One of our reconciliation initiatives is the Community Artwork Project, which has turned some of our assets into powerful canvases showcasing Indigenous art. The stories are about the connection between power or water and the lands on which we operate. The two latest works of art to join our outdoor gallery can be seen on our water tanks in Parap. Keep an eye out for them as you travel down the Stuart Highway. 'Bilawara on Larrakia Country' by Dr Bilawara Lee, Jason Lee and Jesse Bell tells the story of the black cockatoo, which heralds the coming of rain. 'Dangalaba on Country' by June Mills shows the saltwater crocodile. The totem of the Larrakia people, dangalaba can be found in both saltwater and freshwater. After completing cyclone preparedness training last week, some members of our team are taking part in AIIMS training this week, with representatives from across Northern Territory Government. AIIMS stands for Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System. The nationally recognised system for fire and emergency services agencies was developed after the Ash Wednesday bushfires in Victoria and South Australia in 1983. As an organisation that touches the lives of nearly every Territorian in some way, most emergency incidents affect our operations or assets. Training opportunities like this help us prepare for different scenarios, ranging from fire and floods to a cyclone or terror attack. AIIMS takes a wholistic approach to incident management, with representatives from different government departments, industry and not-for-profit organisations filling a variety of roles to ensure a swift, efficient response. The combined knowledge of people with different skillsets and backgrounds is invaluable when managing an emergency. Thanks to Northern Territory Emergency Services for hosting us! #NorthernTerritory #EmergencyManagement #Crisis #BePrepared

Cyclone season is a harsh reality in the Top End, and can bring significant and lasting disruption to homes, businesses and our services! As the team responsible for maintaining essential services for most Territorians, preparing for cyclone season is always front of mind. Our preparations include cyclone preparedness training sessions, featuring a simulation of the damage after a cyclone event. Different business units collaborate to better understand how they can work together to deliver a quick, efficient and professional response. The result? A unified team, where each person has a clear vision of the role they play in the bigger picture. Finding the right people to fill the right roles is essential if we're to deliver for the thousands of Territorians who rely on us for essential services. But, as any organisation will confirm, finding those people can be tricky! As part of our holistic approach to recruitment, we run Assessment Centres for prospective apprentices and trainees. Why? Because interviews and resumes don't always tell the full story. During an Assessment Centre those keen to join us as an apprentice or trainee do have a face-to-face interview, but also get to work through a range of activities (written, practical and group), and meet people from across our team. This gives them a valuable insight into what being part of our team means, and gives us a valuable insight into their strengths and skillset. Thanks to all those who have been taking part in our recent Assessment Centres in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs. We've loved the time we've spent with you, and wish you all the best in securing a role with us! We're serious about looking after our environment, especially when it comes to building new infrastructure! Part of this involves site visits by our Environmental Services team, and they visited Manton Dam recently to check out the Return to Service project. With water demand expected to double by 2050, this initiative will add 7,300 megalitres of water per year to the Darwin region's supply system. It's a massive, long-term project that will increase the Top End's water security, and our Environmental Services team will be involved every step of the way. As part of their visit they ensured all construction activities were in compliance with the project's Environmental Management Plan. This project is jointly funded by the Northern Territory Government and the National Water Grid Fund. Find out more at https://loom.ly/TA40Xkc #Sustainability #WaterManagement #Environment

The Radicle Science Awards NT celebrate Territorians achieving in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. This is something we're passionate about, so we sponsored the Contribution to STEAM Outreach and Engagement category at this year's awards! This award recognises outstanding efforts in inspiring and engaging our communities in STEAM, and creating opportunities for Territorians. Congratulations to category winner Anastasiia Maksimova, a botanical artist, tutor and researcher who is actively involved in developing environmental education through art. Anastasiia has conducted more than 50 workshops for the local community to increase awareness of the Top End's unique flora, and promote knowledge and technical skills about the history of botanical art and modern development. Congratulations to all the winners, who are cultivating curiosity and passion for STEAM in our schools and communities! #RadicleScienceAwards #STEAM #CommunityEngagement

We collaborate closely with developers and industry partners to support growth in the Territory, and multiple members of our team are also members of the Urban Development Institute of Australia NT (UDIA NT). The event brings together government, industry and community leaders to showcase achievements in shaping sustainable and liveable urban spaces. Congratulations to Urbex, winner of the Social and Community Infrastructure Award we sponsored! Their Zuccoli Village project saw them secure the title.
