  • At Primary Connect, we're incredibly proud of our two decade partnership with Foodbank Australia. For 20 years, we've stood side-by-side with Foodbank in their mission to combat hunger across Australia. Their recently released Foodbank Hunger Report 2024 highlights the ongoing need, and we're humbled to play a part in their incredible impact. Just last year, Foodbank, with the support of dedicated partners, provided the equivalent of 92 million meals to Australians facing food insecurity. Beyond our regular food donations, we leverage our logistics expertise to serve as one of Foodbank's largest pro bono transport providers. We're incredibly grateful for Foodbank's tireless efforts and the opportunity to contribute to their impactful work. Here's to another 20 years of fighting hunger, together. • The recent floods in Far North Queensland presented immense challenges, but they also showcased the incredible resilience of the communities and the dedication of our teams, partners and local authorities. Working alongside our incredible transport partners, supermarket team, suppliers, and across all levels of government, we overcame complex logistical hurdles to keep shelves stocked and deliver essential supplies across FNQ. Working together, we leveraged solutions such as inland transport routes, multiple flights, a barge from Gladstone to Cairns and additional rail windows once access resumed. A huge shout out to our Primary Connect team, who consistently go above and beyond. As Townsville DC Supply Chain Manager Shane Kerr said, "I could not be prouder of my team who constantly step up when it is needed most. Not only tirelessly picking and packing orders to fill our stores, they also went the extra mile by packing pallets of water and food for The Salvation Army evacuation centres." Chris Brooks, Acting Managing Director & Chief Supply Chain Officer, Primary Connect adds: "To Shane, Mattie Ryan, Matthew Edwards and their teams, and all of our partners and colleagues across Woolworths Group – thank you for your unwavering support to work through three weeks of impacts across the road and rail network. “Your dedication and teamwork have been instrumental in overcoming these challenges and ensuring that essential supplies reached those who needed them most.” #WoolworthsGroup #BetterTogether #Community

  • Last month, Woolworths Group celebrated the opening of Moorebank NDC, the single largest investment in our 100 year history! This state-of-the-art facility represents a major milestone in creating a more connected and efficient supply chain, ultimately delivering a better experience for our customers. The Moorebank NDC will improve the customer experience by enabling faster restocking and providing aisle-specific pallets tailored to each store's layout, ensuring the right products are always on the right shelves at the right time. Strategically located in Australia’s largest logistics hub, Moorebank NDC will also reduce truck movements and environmental impact as it moves 2.5 million cartons per week to 1,116 stores nationally. A huge thank you to all the team members involved in making this happen! We're incredibly proud to celebrate this exciting new chapter. This month we hit a major milestone with the completion of construction of our new Moorebank Regional Distribution Centre (MoRDC). With commissioning ongoing, there’s still work to be done before we start to service stores, but at 35,000sqm - this is a win for our team. Opening in 2025, MoRDC will move more than 10,000 product ranges, with  2.8 million cartons each going to over 300 Woolworths Supermarkets - the backbone of our NSW grocery network. Together with the National DC which goes live later this year, MoRDC will enhance our supply chain, not only delivering huge benefits to our customers and stores, but by reducing heavy vehicle movements, realising the value of the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct. A huge thank you to our team and partners including our Property team in Woolworths Group and our builder Richard Crookes Constructions for their efforts. We look forward to sharing more updates soon! #PrimaryConnect #WoolworthsGroup #RichardCrookesConstructions LOGOS

  • Woolworths is proud to once again be the fresh food partner of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams at the Paris 2024 Games. To support our incredible athletes, we’ve wrapped five of our trailers with the faces of Woolworths’ Olympic & Paralympic ambassadors. These eye-catching trucks will be delivering quality, fresh products to Woolworths stores across Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Check out this timelapse video showcasing how we transformed a truck to honour Australian Rugby Sevens player and proud Dharawal man, Maurice Longbottom.

Primary Connect Proudly Supports Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT Roll-A-Thon! We're delighted to announce that Primary Connect emerged as the fundraising champion at last week's Roll-A-Thon Corporate Challenge!  This incredible event, held at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, challenged teams to raise money while completing as many laps as possible around the stadium on a sports wheelchair within 4 hours. Our team had a fantastic day filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and a shared passion to support Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT and their mission to promote inclusion and empower people with disabilities through the power of sport. Together, we surpassed our fundraising goals, raising over $15,000 for Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT. A special shoutout to our fantastic team members who volunteered to roll on the day and to everyone who donated who made the day a resounding success! Queensland-based Erin Mealey worked in management roles at Big W and Woolworths supermarkets before applying for a position with Primary Connect at the Townsville Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) three years ago. Following the 2019 floods, the RDC underwent a $12 million expansion to deliver a more resilient supply chain network for Woolworths Group’s customers in Far North Queensland. Erin and the devoted RDC team can now futureproof against severe weather events; better service the region’s 39 Woolworths supermarkets; and build rewarding careers within the Primary Connect business. “Woolworths Group has helped regional north Queensland by providing stable jobs and a greater service for our customers,” says Erin, who celebrates 15 years with the Woolworths Group this year. “The investment was a confidence boost for everyone in this region and us here at the DC.” Having started as a picker, Erin’s passion and dedication was noticed by Supply Chain Manager Shane Kerr, who promoted her to safety lead 12 months ago. “It was really nice to have someone like Shane give me the opportunity to prove myself,” says Erin. “There is so much room to grow a career with Woolworths Group. “Just because you start out in one position, you’re by no means stuck in that position forever. There are so many opportunities – you just have to say yes to them!” Read more of Erin and the Townsville DC team here https://lnkd.in/g8pq2v_Y
