Fraud is a pervasive risk that requires ongoing vigilance, regardless of the size of your entity. In case you missed it, we recently updated 2 useful tools to help organisations: ○ Easily identify areas to improve controls, and focus resources for detection on high-risk areas. ○ Document assessments of fraud risk, as well as how they will control, monitor, and report on the risks. Central agencies’ development of the state budget is a critical process. The budget lays the foundation for the delivery of government services, directly impacting the lives of Queenslanders. It outlines how the government will raise and spend funds, and distribute resources. It’s developed through a continuous cycle that involves multiple phases and stakeholders to ensure the government allocates funds to meet its priorities. This report looks at how central agencies design and manage the budget process and makes recommendations about how the budget framework can be strengthened. We make 8 recommendations to entities, around submission and review processes, data integrity, and the clarification of strategic objectives.
