New Growing Gigs Fund – Live Music Venue grants: CLOSING SOON! QMusic recently worked with Renowned musician and grants expert, Deb Suckling to host an online information session about The Queensland Government’s newly opened grants supporting live Music via Arts Queensland. Topics – Eligibility and Funding Priorities – Venues up to 500 capacity are eligible – 30% of funding aimed at venues outside Southeast Queensland – Focus on dedicated live music venues, not restaurants/cafes with occasional music – Eligible costs include venue improvements, equipment purchases, and offsetting insurance costs – Goal is to fund activities that will increase venue income or reduce costs long-term Application and Budget Advice – Start budget early and call Arts Queensland with questions – Include in-kind contributions like staff time, marketing, etc. – Clearly explain how funding will improve business/sustainability – Provide evidence of artist interest, even if dates not confirmed – Don't include already scheduled/on-sale shows in application Programming and Artist Requirements – Must be 50%+ original music by Queensland artists – Quality assessed based on career stage, industry support, audience engagement – Can fund local support acts for interstate headliners – Flexibility allowed in artist lineup, but should match general proposal The grants are open for application until 2PM Tuesday 4th November and venues across Queensland, including regional venues are strongly encouraged to apply. Support Act, the Australian music industry’s charity, has announced the launch of Mobmusic T-Shirt Day (MMTD) as a key part of its annual fundraising campaign, Ausmusic T-Shirt Day (AMTD). Returning on 28 November in 2024, this annual day of fun and awareness celebrates Australian music and the people who create it, while raising funds for music workers who are doing it tough. Music lovers are encouraged to wear their favourite Ausmusic t-shirt and donate to the campaign on, or in the lead up to, the day.
