Storytelling is a core capability for leaders of change. Stories are the building blocks of empathy & compassion and a way of getting to the heart of who we are. They foster feelings of community & connection. They can help people feel more in control & less alone in the challenges they face. Leaders who tell compelling stories can move their audience from apathy to empathy & ultimately to action. The original article: https://lnkd.in/ef5fxH3f. The Junction is a small business networking group, mostly based in the inner north but not exclusive to that. We meet quarterly and this event is our Christmas lunch. We will have a core group of people who attend and a bunch of new faces, please join in and share this amongst your networks. The aim is to connect with like minded small and medium business owners. Share ideas, challenges, problem solve and innovate. Importantly we celebrate our achievements and open up referral pathways. WHAT TO BRING - This event we ask that you bring a gift that you've never used, or purchase at your local charity op shop a gift under the value of $15, wrap it up in Christmas wrapping, bring it along and when you arrive we will let the games begin!!! To book your ticket and to find out more details about our Christmas event please scan the QR code below or https://lnkd.in/eCmNKCxC #celebrate #collaborate #innovate #manyheadsarebetterthanone #network #ideasharing #support

Medical doctor, leading authority on improving brain function, international speaker and award-winning author of NeuroSlimming

Modern medicine needs to acknowledge that more than 80% of our health is determined by how we live our lives — the food we eat, the work we do, the stress we’re under, the quality of our sleep, the amount we move, the company we keep, and the pollution we’re exposed to — and only 20% of our health is attributed to drugs, surgery and other external interventions. To draw attention to this point, I delivered three poster presentations at the Alzheimer Europe conference in Geneva, Switzerland from 8th to 10th October. The titles of my presentations are: 1. The power of gratitude and breath work in reducing cognitive decline 2. Every soft drink is a bullet to our brain! Or in medical speak: Could fructose metabolism be a driver of Alzheimer’s disease? 3. Can adventure prevent dementia? Or in medical speak: Untangling the mechanisms of cognitive reserve. The first presentation was exclusively for the Geneva conference. The other two posters I also presented at the Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) Conference in Krakow Poland in April. • Thanks Continence Foundation of Australia for the opportunity to attend this webinar. We love "Drop the jargon day". Using jargon is not helpful when communicating to people about their health. It is intimidating, exclusive and runs the risk of people switching off & not taking charge of their own health. When we are working with people and talking about health we need to meet people where they are at. DROP THE JARGON and modify your communication skills according to your audience to get the best health literacy outcomes. #dropthejargon #healthliteracy #communication #selfdetermination #personcentred

  • Are you getting bit nervous about the run to the end of the year? Worried your Christmas is going to be pear shaped because your team can't achieve everything you planned? Feeling like your workload is HUGE and you can't see the wood for the trees? Maybe it is time to talk to us at Quality Service Improvement. We can help you take a breath and think about some work that you can carve off to get quick results and reduce burn out in your team. You're human, play to your strengths and we'll play to ours. Don't let your end of the year and the start of 2025 be an upside down and hanging in there type vibe. *image of family hanging in there :) #failtoplan #plantofail #hanginginthere

“Sometimes I feel like I’m his wife, other times his carer and then back to his wife again. “So as a carer and a spouse, you are constantly changing hats. I am constantly thinking of strategies and pre-empting the next thing.” Cheryl is a carer for her husband Bob who is living with dementia. Like many carers, Cheryl feels as though she wears more than one hat in any given day, being both a carer and a partner. Family members and friends often find themselves in the role of a carer when a loved one is living with dementia. While caring for your loved one can be rewarding, it can also have its tougher days. Dementia Australia is here for you. The National Dementia Helpline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year – including on public holidays.
