I would go much further and suggest that this is just another part of the Australian government's intentional slow-walk when it comes to methane emissions. I discovered that the last batch revised historical land-use data so severely that it was the same 'reductions' as the real reductions from *ALL WIND AND SOLAR* deployment the past half-decade. Australia could ditch all its climate policies right now and still hit its 2030 targets, thanks solely to this extreme revisionism for land-use data. Until that systemic problem is resolved, this same climate-delaying pattern - unhesitant and massive downward revisions and constantly-delayed-upwards-revisions - will continue.

Michael Ryan grew up on a bush block east of Melbourne and has been living his best forest–science life ever since. He now works in forest ecology at DEECA. Michael has helped re-seed ash forests after devastating fires in 2006. The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) are delighted to announce Taribelang-Bunda man Des Purcell as the newest addition to our Project Management team. Des will be instrumental in the integration and understanding of Traditional Ecological Knowledge and practices across all BMRG business to improve our natural resource outcomes.    Des brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as a Senior Ranger, where he worked for the past 10 years. During this time Des has worked across research, management and Cultural projects focused on conserving and healing Country.   At BMRG, Des will be working on projects spanning our region's threatened species, critical habitats and communities. He will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of key projects to ensure not only alignment to BMRG’s strategic objectives; but also ensure meaningful engagement with Traditional Owners, community and environmental groups, and other stakeholders.    “My passion for country and helping care and participate in environmental protection is highly important. It’s important for my family, my culture, my health, wellbeing, and connection to my people. It all comes from this land, and it is only right to give back, as much as I possibly can, to preserve it and hopefully contribute to positive change together.”    In his first couple of weeks, Des has thoroughly enjoyed settling in at BMRG, finding his time full of learning and his induction welcoming. Des also stated, “Being provided an opportunity to work, learn and grow alongside passionate, enthusiastic and highly professional staff is incredibly exciting, humbling and daunting at the same time.”   Outside of work, Des cherishes time with his family.   BMRG is thrilled to welcome Des Purcell to the team. His extensive experience and dedication to environmental protection and Indigenous knowledge integration will be invaluable assets to our team, business and broader conservation efforts.
