RaboResearch Analyst, Vitor Pistoia, recently travelled to the heart of the U.S. corn belt—visiting Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri 🌽 He explored how national policies, such as the farm credit system, shape the US farming financial industry, including crop insurance income. Vitor also met with farmers specialising in corn and soy, who mixed their enterprises with cattle, feedlots, and pork production. A key takeaway was that producers in the region are looking to boost revenue by leveraging certified non-deforested soy trade with the EU, and low-emissions grains for sustainable aviation fuel.
