🎙️LATEST PODCAST: Stay engaged, stay passionate’: A journey of leadership & service - Interview with The Hon Rob Borbidge AO 🎧FULL EPISODE on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gVAMf3wU If not for a bold tax reform in the 1970s, the life and career of the Hon Rob Borbidge AO - and the political landscape of Queensland - might have unfolded very differently. Raised on a sheep farm in Victoria, it was the abolition of Queensland's death duties that spurred his family to relocate to the Gold Coast. This move eventually led Rob to be elected as the Member for Surfers Paradise, a position he held with distinction for over 20 years, before becoming Queensland’s 35th Premier in 1996. In this inspiring conversation, Rob reflects on his formative years, the moment that sparked his political career and his extensive community work with LifeFlight Australia and Experience Gold Coast. He shares his thoughts on the essence of leadership, the importance of giving back, and the legacy he has helped shape as one of Queensland’s most respected elder statesmen. 🎥Special thanks to Dan Bowers from Bowerbird Media Group for editing the teaser! #RDAGoldCoast #GoldCoastInsiderPodcast #TheHonRobBorbidgeAO #GoldCoast

About us
Regional Development Australia (RDA) Gold Coast is part of a national network of over 50 committees made up of local leaders who work with all levels of government, business and community groups to support the development of their regions. We work in consultation with the community, business, not-for-profit organisations and all levels of government, to articulate local priorities, identify and align resources, engage stakeholders and promote solutions. In doing this we aim to support the growth and development of regional communities across the Gold Coast. Further to this we support, promote and disseminate information on government policy initiatives for the benefit of our local community. To this end, Regional Development Australia committees have a strong understanding of federal, state and local government policies and initiatives and the ways in which local communities can engage with them. This is why we strive to take a leadership role in bringing together organisations to take advantage of government programs, policies and initiatives. Regional Development Australia is your conduit between the levels of governments which enables you to provide input to governments about the strengths and weaknesses of regional Australia.
