Their software is used by 275,000 people in 175 countries and has been translated into 50 languages. It’s the only screen reader in the world made by blind people for blind people. As we approach the end of the financial year, the disability service sector continues to face a significant challenge - increasing costs for service delivery without a corresponding increase in NDIS pricing. The current situation has put immense pressure on providers to maintain the quality of care and support that individuals deserve, while also ensuring the financial sustainability of their operations. We are eagerly awaiting news of a price increase from the NDIS, which will provide much-needed relief and enable us to continue delivering essential services to those in need. It is crucial that we work together as a community to advocate for fair and sustainable funding for disability services, so that we can continue to support individuals to live their best lives.

Have you seen the new Osteoporosis Management guidelines released by the The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) They outline Osteoporosis Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management for postmenopausal women and men over 50 years of age. The guide provides significant updates to the use of fracture risk assessment tools and the role of calcium, vitamin D and osteoanabolic therapies. As Physiotherapists we play a vital role managing osteoporosis. We focus on exercise prescription, improving bone density, muscle mass, balance, and fall risk. Meet Chris, one of the newer members of our team at Rehab Health and Fitness Australia (RHFA)! Although recently graduated, Chris has a wealth of experience in working in healthcare. He spent 4 years working as a personal trainer while attending university and 3 years as a physiotherapist aide prior to joining our team. In his spare time, Chris participates as a research assistant on various research projects focusing on physiotherapy topics. He also enjoys getting lost around Sydney when he goes out jogging and loves throwing the ball for his dog. At RHFA, we’re fortunate to have a fantastic team of therapists and support staff who work with our clients to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
