What a fantastic afternoon celebrating the #MelbourneCup with our RCOE team and tenants Resource Industry Network, Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water! 🎩🍽️ We gathered for a delicious lunch, watched the iconic race, and got into the spirit with a fun sweepstakes! 🏆💰 From the excitement of the race to the laughter shared over great food and company, it was the perfect way to embrace this Australian tradition. A big thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable event—whether you won big, or just had a laugh at the sweepstakes, it was a day to remember! Here’s to the excitement, the thrill of the race, and of course, the delicious food that made the day even more special. 🙌🎉

Do you want to see Ai in action? One of the things we aim to do at the Resources Centre of Excellence is to showcase cutting edge technology like Ai to support safety advancements across industry. Thanks to Graeme Naylor and the team at Strata Worldwide for this working display which lets people touch, feel and experience Strata Ai proximity detection in action all in the safety of the RCOE foyer 👏👏👏👏
Thank you to the Resources Centre of Excellence for accommodating Strata Worldwide in having a working display model of our Hazard AI Proximity Detection System in the foyer. The hope is visitors of the Resources Centre of Excellence will see this technology and talk about it at their respective business as a possible Engineering safety control that could be implemented in areas where people interact with vehicles and machines. Please contact me if you want any more info on this system and how it can help make your workplace safer.

The RCOE has been working hard to have Mackay’s voice heard so its bright future can be supported! On Thursday, Steven Boxall rallied together our local leaders to share and highlight exciting opportunities and ongoing projects, including the Great Barrier Reef Arena Stage 2 and regional developments at Mackay Airport. While key issues like health, crime, and housing are still on the agenda, there’s a strong sense of unity in advocating for Mackay’s fair share of investment. It was also a great opportunity to promote Resources Centre of Excellence Stage 2 which has a $5m commitment from ALP. Exciting times ahead! Special thanks to; Steven Boxall for hosting, Adrian Young for providing the venue at Harrup Park, Fergus Gregg from the Daily Mercury and all out leaders for attending.
