Partnership in #Foodservice isn't just a buzzword, it's the bedrock of operational excellence. So when those you rely on aren’t providing you with what you need but rather what they want you to have, is that partnership? Let’s cut through the noise and talk about what real partnership looks like. True #collaboration with End User customers, Foodservice Distributors and Suppliers flourishes when its a two-way street. When working with Catering and Procurement teams on building relationships with distributors, we emphasise these 4 essential elements: 1️⃣ Create and maintain accurate forecasting 2️⃣ Define requirements of people, process and product 3️⃣ Foster consistent two-way communication, and 4️⃣ Don't accept "...we have exclusive partnerships and can’t provide you another product or brand" That last one is an excuse for non supply, not service and just avoidance. The reality is that whilst we deeply value supplier relationships, you need to guide the way forward and when detailed forecasting and maintaining open communication happens, yet you're still encountering challenges, start asking questions: ✅ Is this a partnership or a transaction? ✅ Are your needs actually being considered? ✅ Are your needs aligning with what you're receiving? Sometimes, it's worth having a frank discussion with your suppliers about your concerns. If they want your business, they’ll take on board your concerns and help shape your vision. This is especially important in #Healthcare and #AgedCare where nutrition plays a vital role in care delivery and covering everything in sauce no longer flies! There is always a good reason why sometimes things don't work, whether it be MOQs, availability to other customers or not configured for Foodservice distribution and great suppliers will explain this and seek alternatives. Your mutual success depends on a #supplychain that aligns with your goals and supports your needs.
