We’re thrilled to announce the official opening of our newest Veteran and Family Hub in Wyong today, marking a significant step toward enhancing the wellbeing of veterans and their families on the Central Coast. The ceremony was attended by NSW Minister for Veterans, David Harris MP, and Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride. RSL LIFECARE LIMITED in partnership with RSL NSW, will offer comprehensive support services at the Hub to over 12,000 veterans and their families currently living on the Central Coast, a large and rapidly growing veteran community. The Central Coast Veteran and Family Hub has been brought to life with the support of a one-off grant of $1.7 million from the Commonwealth Government. This funding will significantly boost the capacity of veterans’ services by expanding infrastructure, enhancing support services, and broadening the reach of wellbeing initiatives tailored to the unique needs of current and former servicemen and women, and their families. “I extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to the Commonwealth Government, RSL NSW, and various ex-service organisations who have worked with us tirelessly to bring this hub to life. The unwavering support of the Central Coast District Council and its sub-Branches has not gone unnoticed,” said RSL LifeCare CEO, Janet Muir. RSL LifeCare, in partnership with RSL NSW, now operates five hubs in the Riverina, Shoalhaven, the Northern Beaches, the Hunter region and on the Central Coast. Last year, the Commonwealth Government also awarded RSL LifeCare funding to develop new hubs in Queanbeyan, the Hunter, Tweed/North Coast, Hawkesbury and the Southwest Sydney corridor. Our Shoalhaven Veteran and Family Hub team were thrilled to host an event for women in the Defence Australia and The Australian Public Service in partnership with HMAS Albatross. The lunch event provided a great opportunity for women to connect, have fun and expand their professional networks. It was great to see women on maternity leave who brought their children to enjoy the day too! Everyone had a great time enjoying the lunch, networking in a supportive atmosphere. We're excited to continue hosting this event on the first Thursday of every month. #rsllifecare #defencewomensnetwork #veteranservices #community

We are pleased to announce that our annual fundraising gala – the Poppy Ball – will be taking place this year at the Victoria Barracks in Sydney, on 23 November. We are grateful for the continued support of Raytheon Australia, who have joined us once again as Platinum Sponsor for this year’s event – ‘an evening at the Barracks’. Meet Maxwell Frank Marvin, RSL LifeCare resident and World War II veteran whose life is a story of bravery and dedication. Born in Murrurundi in 1924, Max served with distinction in the Royal Australian Navy, navigating perilous waters and facing tough challenges. His time aboard the Wollongong and Fairmiles is marked by courage and a deep commitment. “One of the most intense moments was when the Wollongong was deployed to Singapore. We encountered enemy planes that eventually dropped bombs near us, adding to the tension. Despite the dangers, our skilled skipper and the crew’s agility helped us avoid disaster as we finally arrived in Singapore. There, we faced frequent air raids, and the ship’s manoeuvrability became our best defence against the bombings.” Now living at RSL ANZAC Village in Narrabeen, Maxwell keeps busy with village events and enjoys spending time with friends. His positive energy and friendly nature make him a valued member of the RSL LifeCare community. Read Maxwell's full story here: https://lnkd.in/dspgwg5N
