Very contagious. Highly fatal. Easy to prevent. 💉 Parvovirus is an incredibly contagious and deadly disease affecting dogs. The disease is tough to treat, hard to recover from, and often deadly. Puppies and unvaccinated dogs are the most at risk of catching and dying from Parvovirus. Vaccination is very important this time of year. Parvovirus spreads quickly as dogs are active during the wet season, spreading the disease with them. 🐕🚶 The disease can easily be spread by an infected dog, either through direct interaction, or simply coming into contact with the dog's faeces or environments they've passed through. The virus can also be picked up from your shoes and walked into your yard - your dog doesn't even have to leave your yard to pick up this virus! The disease is able to withstand extreme temperatures and can live on surfaces for a long period of time, making it highly contagious. 😷 If you have a puppy at home who's ready to start vaccinations, or a dog who's fallen behind on their vaccinations, contact your Veterinarian today and protect your pet from Parvovirus. #RSPCANT #RSPCADarwin #ParvovirusAwareness

Sweet 3-month old Billy visited Leisha and Dan at Mix 104.9 this morning to highlight the importance of vaccinating your puppies and dogs so that they are covered against the deadly canine parvovirus. With some early showers happening earlier this week, it's a timely reminder to chat to your vet to make sure you dog's vaccinations are up to date. Puppies require a series of vaccinations to build up their immunity and adult dogs require yearly vaccinations to maintain immunity. #RSPCANT #RSPCADarwin
