International Women’s Day may have passed, but the fight for gender equity continues. As events continued this week, we wanted to reflect on the meaning behind March 8. What began as protests dating back to the early 1900s remains a call to action today. Ending the devastating impacts gender inequity has on our communities —requires collective action and shared responsibility. It’s time to turn momentum into action—let’s keep marching forward. #MarchForward #IWD2025

Did you know that 53% of women experiencing homelessness in WA became homeless because of family and domestic violence (FDV)? March 8 marks International Women’s Day (IWD)—a day that goes beyond celebration. Born from the labour movements of the early 20th century, IWD has always been about fighting for women’s rights—at work, in politics, and across society. Today, it remains a global call to action—not just to recognise progress, but to demand change. In WA, FDV is one of the most urgent injustices we face. It shatters lives, tears families apart, and affects every corner of our community. At Ruah, we are taking bold steps to break this cycle, empower women, and create lasting change. It provides reassurance to our clients, parents, caregivers, and the wider community that safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Through our dedicated team, systems and thoughtful processes, we prioritise the wellbeing of children and young people in every decision we make. 💙 

January 26th is a Day of Mourning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, not a celebration. For many, this date represents the beginning of profound loss—of land, lives, and culture. Marking the beginning of the Frontier Wars in 1788. While 'Australia Day' as we know it has only been a national holiday since 1994, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have long marked January 26th as a Day of Mourning, with the first protest taking place back in 1938. On 26 January, Ruah acknowledges the pain of this history and stand firmly in solidarity with the world's oldest surviving cultures. Together, let’s continue to reflect, listen, and work toward a future grounded in truth, justice, and respect. 🖤💛❤️ #alwayswasalwayswillbe

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Living Proud to deliver specialised Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence (FDSV) support for LGBTIQA+SB communities in WA. 🌈💜 Our Executive Manager, Carmen Acosta, shared: “We’re incredibly proud to partner with Living Proud on this essential initiative. LGBTIQA+ communities deserve support that is inclusive, safe, and responsive to their needs. By working together, we can ensure frontline workers are equipped to deliver care that truly makes a difference.” This marks an important step toward creating safer, more supportive spaces for everyone.
