  • 🐂Key decision dates for beef producers With winter behind us, now's the perfect moment to plan for balancing feed demand, supply and stocking numbers throughout the year. Here are the four key decision dates to consider: 1️⃣Green Date (after Sept) the date you can expect 50mm of rain within 3 days in 7 out of 10 years. This amount of rainfall is considered the amount required to commence pasture growth. 2️⃣Stocking Number Review (Nov/Dec) depending on your Green Date, this is date to review your stock numbers and grazing intensity. 3️⃣Maximum Feed Availability (end of Feb) this is when feed is usually at its maximum, it is time to consider selling stock. 4️⃣Winter Stocking Rate (Mar/Apr) at the end of the growing season, plan how to avoid a winter feed gap.
