The mother of one victim alleged that her complaint about Griffith's behaviour in 2018 was not acted upon and she accused the centre of being run "as a business, not as a place that was looking after children". As a subject matter expert in risk, investigation and best practice in safeguarding and child protection, I emphasise the importance of understanding the impact of maltreatment in Australia and how it should influence transformational cultural change within organisations at an enterprise level. Those tasked with implementing changes to create safer environments for children, young people, and vulnerable adults may also carry their own trauma histories.
