Today marks the beginning of OCD Awareness Week. As shared by SANE Peer Ambassador Josh, living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) doesn’t define a person, but it does come with its challenges. Stigma can create isolation, prevent people from seeking the help they need, and affect overall quality of life. Dismantling stigma starts with honest conversations. Each conversation brings us closer to a more understanding, compassionate, and supportive society. Together, we can challenge stigma and change the narrative around complex mental health issues. Let’s ensure that everyone feels seen, heard, and supported 🧡 How you can help:
📖 Educate yourself and others: Learn about OCD or share your story! Share accurate information to dispel myths and misconceptions. 🗣️ Encourage open conversations: Create an environment where discussing mental health, including OCD, is normalised and encouraged. 💙 Offer support: Support friends and loved ones by listening, showing empathy, and standing up against stigma when you encounter it. 🙅♂️Challenge stereotypes: Call out stereotypes and negative portrayals of OCD in media. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/dVRkH855 🔄 Advocate for change: Get involved in campaigns and events that raise awareness about OCD and mental health issues. Support policies and initiatives that aim to improve access to mental health care and resources for those affected by OCD. Living with OCD or supporting someone who is? You are not alone. Support is available, and recovery is possible. 📚 Learn more about OCD, its symptoms, causes and risk factors, effective coping strategies and support and treatment options at https://lnkd.in/gXesmd_9 🤝 Connect with people who understand what you are going through, seek advice and surround yourself with support in our online peer support community. It’s free, anonymous, and professionally moderated 24/7. Join the community at saneforums.org. ❤️ Access our range of free support services at sane.org/get-support. #OCDAwareness #MHAM24 #MentalHealthMatters #EndStigma #complexmentalhealth #mentalhealthaustralia #mentalhealthsupport #ComplexMatters

The launch of WHO’s Mosaic Toolkit to End Stigma and Discrimination in Mental Health is an exciting step forward in the global fight against mental health stigma. At SANE, we know firsthand how stigma and discrimination impact people living with complex mental health needs—preventing them from seeking help, staying engaged with care, and thriving in their personal and professional lives. The Mosaic Toolkit offers a valuable resource for everyone working in mental health, and we look forward to exploring how its evidence-based approaches can further strengthen our work at SANE. You can check out the toolkit at https://lnkd.in/ejr8kXwF Together, we can continue to create a world where no one facing mental health challenges is held back by stigma. #MentalHealthAwareness #ComplexMentalHealth #EndStigma #SANE #MentalHealthAtWork

It’s World Mental Health Day, and today we’re excited to be at Parliament House in Canberra, showcasing how SANE is making space for Complex Mental Health and creating hope, support and recovery through digital innovation. In Australia, millions of people face stigma, isolation, and barriers to accessing support —whether due to financial challenges, remote locations, long waitlists, or the complexity of their needs. At SANE, we believe in change. We're committed to providing accessible, ongoing, complementary supports for people impacted by complex mental health issues, and the family, friends and carers who support them. Lived experience is at the core of everything we do. Over the past decade, hundreds of thousands of people have turned to our online peer support community, finding advice, connection, and belonging through shared experiences. Many of our members go on to give back—whether by befriending others, volunteering, co-designing programs, or advocating for change. Over two years ago, we launched Australia’s first digital psychosocial program, offering high-level support including mental health recovery planning, counselling, and peer support. The outcomes have been remarkable, showing statistically significant improvements in quality of life, mental health recovery, and distress reduction — all thanks to the power of lived experience combined with digital innovation. More recently, we launched RecoveryClub, a medium-level support program that lets people navigate their recovery journey at their own pace, offering recovery resources and peer support activities. We've come a long way, and there’s much to celebrate. But our work is far from over. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocating for more resources and breaking new ground in mental health care. Together with our community, we’re proving that digital mental health care can make a meaningful difference to those who need it most.
