We all rely on evidence. As part of World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day, our Director Jack Nunn talked about how STARDIT can be used to help everyone understand more about who has been involved in creating evidence: Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/eEJmr3xZ Learn more about STARDIT here - including the partnership with Wikimedia Australia: https://lnkd.in/edFxsRPW World EBHC Day Science for All Wikimedia Australia #WorldEBHCDay

Supporting everyone in the world to get involved in shaping the future of human knowledge.
About us
What is ‘Science for All’ ‘Science for All’ is a not-for-profit organisation that supports everyone in the world to get involved in shaping the future of human knowledge. Purpose An organisation which exists to facilitate the learning, sharing and creation of knowledge. We enable people to share knowledge and ideas, use the scientific method to create new knowledge and support more people to get involved in shaping the future of human knowledge. What we do We recognise that many of the challenges facing the planet today do not have solutions which fall into categories such as ‘public health’, ‘environmental studies’ and ‘education’. Our aim is to bring together experts from these diverse areas to work in partnership with as many people as possible by using a combination of free face-to- face events in metropolitan and rural areas, as well as online tools. Where possible, we will work with knowledge-area experts, people from relevant organisations and members of the public to co-create events and learning resources. We run projects such as ‘Campfires and Science’. Where possible we will measure the impact of our actions and use this to create evidence-informed interventions. Our Values We are not-for-profit – working for all life on earth We value the freedom to ask any question, using the scientific method wherever possible We support the principles of democracy, the ‘rule of law’ and evidence-based policy wherever we can We are transparent and accountable We include everyone we can as best we can in every aspect of our work We know that science means knowledge, and knowledge takes many forms Contact info@scienceforall.world

Science for All are working with the Australian Citizen Science Association to write a discussion paper which aims to explore how to improve citizen science and make it more inclusive and accessible - Anyone can get involved - learn more here and complete the survey: https://lnkd.in/g8s3VfW4 #citizenscience
The Australian Citizen Science Association are writing a discussion paper which aims to identify and strengthen linkages between citizen science and university research to benefit society. In particular, we want to explore how to improve citizen science outcomes and applications, by supporting connections between citizen science programs and early-to-mid-career researchers in Australia. We are interested in hearing from everyone - including people who have been involved in citizen science, professional researchers and the general public. As well as collecting data from the public, we are seeking to co-create the discussion paper with multiple stakeholders, and involvement and co-authorship is open to anyone who is able to volunteer their time. Your responses to this form will help shape the second stage of the discussion paper: https://lnkd.in/gTckqR3u #emcr #citizenscience

Standardised Data on Initiatives (STARDIT) improves access to standardised, verified information about evidence. By being free, open access and editable by anyone, STARDIT can support participatory ways of working and help improve the equity and quality of evidence. https://lnkd.in/e8USE6D4
I'm at the Global Evidence Summit in Prague, presenting tomorrow about how Standardised Data on Initiatives (STARDIT) can report about different kinds of evidence - including who was involved in creating it. Can you help us? We've joined forces with Science for All to explore how to improve citizen science outcomes and applications, by supporting connections between citizen science programs and early-to-mid-career researchers in Australia. But we need your help! As well as collecting data from the public, we are seeking to co-create a discussion paper with multiple stakeholders, and involvement and co-authorship is open to anyone who is able to volunteer their time. How can you help? Fill in the form and tell us your thoughts - we would love to hear them! https://lnkd.in/g-tmC75s

This blog for 'World Evidence Based Healthcare Day' explores the 'importance of having trusted sources of information and the need for continued vigilance against misinformation and disinformation' https://lnkd.in/gXb8bHK2 Learn more about how Science for All is working with Wikimedia Australia to support evidence informed ways of involving people in shaping the future through the project 'Standardised Data on Initiatives': https://lnkd.in/e8USE6D4 #research #evidence #WorldEBHCDay #scienceforall #STARDIT
Humanity faces multiple simultaneous crises. "To understand these crises, we need reliable and trusted information. Instead, what many now face is an ‘infodemic’ of both misinformation and disinformation..." Involve Australia has published their recommendations to health and medical research institutes and funders on improving how they involve people, and to support researchers and the community to work collaboratively in a more effective and inclusive way. Science for All is proud to be among the organisations which endorse and support these guidelines. https://lnkd.in/gg4nHJeq
Involve Australia has released practical recommendations for health and medical research institutes and funders, urging them to play a stronger role in supporting community involvement in research. We hope to see institutes and funders take these on board to actively support researcher and community partnerships and make health research more inclusive and impactful for all Australians. View the recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/gg4nHJeq A special thanks to the Involve Australia Working Group for their contribution to this project: Monica Ferrie, Anne McKenzie, Sean Murray, Jack Nunn, John Cannings OAM, Greg Pratt, Dr Fiona Russo, Tiffany Boughtwood, Isabella Sherburn and Keri Finlay. These recommendations were developed as part of the Involve Australia project, which published 'Guidelines for Community Involvement in Genomic Research' late last year. We are grateful to the following organisations that have endorsed the Guidelines to date: Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI) | Brainwave Australia | Breast Cancer Network Australia | Childhood Dementia Initiative | Genetic Support Network of Victoria | JDRF Australia | Mito Foundation | MS Research Australia | Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) | Pink Hope | Rare Cancers Australia | Rare Voices Australia | Research Australia | Sanfilippo Children's Foundation | Science for All | The Rett Syndrome Association of Australia | VCCC Alliance | WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) #AustralianGenomics #InvolveAustralia #communityinvolvement #consumerinvolvement #genomics #research #genomicresearch #healthresearch #medicalresearch #nothingaboutuswithoutus

Science for All is proud to endorse the recently launched ‘Guidelines for Community Involvement in Genomic Research’, which were co-created by community members and coordinated by Australian Genomics. “Involve Australia has engaged with the public to develop community involvement guidelines for genomic researchers. The project partnered with patient support and advocacy groups, patients and carers, people who involve community in their research, interested members of the public, genomic researchers and healthcare professionals”. Our Director Jack Nunn is a member of the working group which helped to co-create them. The artwork featured in this post is from the guidelines and is by Alkina Edwards (with more information about the artwork in the guidelines) Project webpage here: https://lnkd.in/gg4nHJeq Direct link to guidelines here: https://lnkd.in/gr3qkviH STARDIT report about the guidelines here: https://lnkd.in/gJraFHDp

Science for All is proud to be part of an international team of organisations working to improve the lives of people living with dementia, led by the University of Queensland. We are putting out the following call - if you can share this with anyone it'll help us ensure more people's perspectives can be included: ---------- Do you have experience with dementia care in Australia? We want to find out what is relevant and meaningful to people living with this condition. We’re conducting research into what outcomes contribute to quality of care and we want to hear from people with experience of dementia care. Your participation will help shape recommendations for measuring the quality of dementia care and improving service quality in Australia. If you are interested in participating and would like to know more, please contact the COM-IC secretariat (com-ic.study@uq.edu.au) ________ Learn more about the project here: Website: https://lnkd.in/gq_DGQZw STARDIT report: https://lnkd.in/eJQdSEiu
