A common misconception about scoliosis bracing is that it weakens trunk muscles, reducing endurance over time. However, recent research indicates that certain braces, like the ScoliBrace®, when combined with specific exercises (like ScoliBalance®), can actually help improve trunk muscle endurance. This approach has been shown to strengthen muscles, enhance stability, and better support the spine, offering a more proactive and beneficial role for bracing in scoliosis care. ScoliCare Executive Director of Education and Research, Rose Mirenzi, Clinical Director, Dr. Juan D., Dr. Tamara Pooke and CEO Dr. Jeb McAviney completed a retrospective study of trunk muscle endurance of 33 adolescents with Idiopathic Scoliosis patients who received ScoliBrace® and ScoliBalance® treatment. Approximately how many adults have some kind of Scoliosis over the age of 60? Answer: D:68% While scoliosis is often associated with children and adolescents, it can affect adults as well. In fact, the prevalence of scoliosis increases with age. For instance, while up to 5% of adolescents have idiopathic scoliosis, this number rises dramatically in older adults. It is estimated that up to 68% of adults aged 60-90 years will have an adult scoliosis. This rise is due to both the progression of adolescent scoliosis into adulthood and the onset of degenerative scoliosis. #AdultScoliosis #ScoliCare
