To ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

About us

Our Story Share the Dignity was founded in 2015 after it was identified that there was a genuine need to provide vulnerable women in our community with essential sanitary products. It was reported that these women are often forced to choose between buying food to eat or buying expensive sanitary items to get through their periods. Women and children, either homeless or in shelters, were having to clean themselves in public toilets and use paper towels to create makeshift period pads. This is not and should never be okay. From a grassroots local community initiative to a national charity, Share the Dignity has struck a chord with the Australian public and continues to evolve in order to provide for the needs of at-risk women and children. Working tirelessly with over 5000 volunteers, the charity has been able to deliver over 3 million packets of pads and tampons and over 600,000 essential filled handbags to Australian women and girls. Share the Dignity continues to grow with the support of passionate volunteers and the generosity of Australian businesses, ensuring that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

"My best friend was caught stealing tampons as she couldn’t afford them. She was too embarrassed to ask me to get them for her. She was 22 at the time." It breaks our hearts to hear these stories and see the statistics from our 2024 Bloody Big Survey. On average, 64% of survey respondents have found it difficult to buy period products due to cost. Tasmania has the biggest struggle with 70% of respondents in TAS struggling to afford period products. Everyone deserves to manage their period with dignity. Donate to our Dignity Drive by donating period products at a collection point - https://lnkd.in/g2_4SXDU You can also download our Bloody Big Survey here - https://lnkd.in/g9TBwiht

We believe every woman EVERYWHERE should have access to the very basic of essentials. Can you help us send your kind donations where they need to go? 🙏 Take a look at Aurukun it is seriously at the very top of this great country of ours! It has a population of just over 1000. We met this week with one of the fabulous teams that look after the health of the women and girls and we have come up with a plan to get them period products and some #itsinthebag donations that will help to encourage better health outcomes including getting the ladies in to ensure they have had all their vaccinations and health check ups. It is so important that every woman everywhere has access to the very basic of essentials that so many of us take for granted. BUT here is where we need your help so we can send your kind donations where they need to go, but we have been quoted $2000 to send two pallets that way!! You can donate online on our website at https://lnkd.in/gjBgHkMe Whether you donate a little or a lot, your support will help us to Share the Dignity in the very top tip of Australia. 🙏

I still can't quite believe we have reached 5 million period products donated. But what does it really mean?... That’s 5 million times we’ve been able to give a woman her dignity back. It’s 5 million times a woman didn’t have to face the shame or embarrassment of not having the basic essentials to manage her period. It’s 5 million times a girl didn’t have to miss school, a mother didn’t have to choose between feeding her family and buying sanitary products, or a woman didn’t have to resort to unsafe alternatives like socks, newspaper, or toilet paper. It’s 5 million moments where a woman felt seen, valued, and supported by her community. It’s 5 million times we’ve shown that we believe in a world where no woman or girl should suffer in silence or feel less than because of her period. It’s 5 million acts of kindness that ripple into the world, creating a wave of change. It’s 5 million times that Share The Dignity has made a difference, and we’re not done. I’ll never stop fighting to make sure no woman or girl ever faces period poverty. A massive thank you to each of you who has donated. Your generosity is changing lives, one period product at a time. Every single item you’ve given isn’t just a donation; it’s a lifeline, a message that says, “You matter, and you deserve dignity.” You’ve shown that when we come together, we have impact. I’m beyond grateful to have you by our side in this fight. Thank you for believing in this cause and helping us bring hope to so many women and girls. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I never thought we’d reach this point, but here we are—making a bloody huge impact. Rochelle xx

Well... we did it!!! We just hit 5 million period products collected since Share the Dignity began, I can't believe it! Over 9 years ago I collected and donated my first lot of period products at a local charity in Sandgate. Now Share the Dignity is a national charity that has collected 5 million period products thank to you, our incredible community, our corporate partners and our selfless volunteers. I just can't fathom the impact of those donations. Can you imagine how many periods we have helped people manage with dignity? It gives me goosebumps. Thank you for joining us on this journey and let's continue making an impact together 🙏 Period products can be donated at your local Woolworths supermarket until August 31!

A huge thank you to Larissa Waters for highlighting in parliament how the Australian Government's draft list saw the exclusion of period products from the NDIS. This has to change and we are so grateful for her using her voice for this issue There is still time to provide feedback on the draft list, head to our website for some text you can copy and paste - https://lnkd.in/gTU3a74c

Having menstrual products eligible on the NDIS can make a world of difference for people with a disability. Menstrual products SHOULD NOT be excluded from the NDIS. Yep, you read that right, the Aus Government has a draft list that would see menstrual products excluded from the NDIS. We cannot let this happen. We have a quick copy and paste email you can share, so please join us in providing feedback on the list here by August 25 - https://lnkd.in/gTU3a74c Quote in tile reads: "As a disabled person finding period products that are accessible is expensive. I had to access NDIS just to get period underwear."
