About us
The Shared Value Project is a regional community of practice committed to driving adoption and implementation of shared value strategies among leaders and companies, civil society, and government organisations in Australia. The Shared Value Project aims to create a community of business leaders and practitioners in Australia who are dedicated to advancing shared value as the business strategy for solving societal problems. The Shared Value Project supports the development of shared value in Australia via the creation of knowledge, skills and social networks, and by the promotion of member achievements. Shared value is defined as policies and practices that enhance the competitiveness of companies while improving social and environmental conditions in the regions where they operate. It is a business strategy focused on companies creating measurable economic benefit by identifying and addressing social problems that intersect with their business. To qualify as shared value, there must be an identifiable economic benefit to the company as well as measurable impact on a social or environmental issue.

"An opportunity for senior executives, board members, innovators and public officers to better understand how they can influence and contribute to a healthier, happier and more sustainable world." As we conclude our second round of Shared Value Mentoring Circles, I'm inspired by the wealth of knowledge exchanged and the passion for creating meaningful impact that filled each session. A heartfelt thank you to our shared value leaders: Margaret Stuart (Nestlé Oceania) David Spriggs (Infoxchange) Erin Gooch (IAG) Janette O'Neill (PwC Australia) Your insights on aligning with purpose, building impactful partnerships, and integrating shared value into broader strategies have been truly enlightening. To our emerging practitioners: You've gained more than just theory – you've received a roadmap for driving change. Remember: - Start with a problem central to your business - Be patient in building your business case - Seek diverse perspectives within and outside your organisation - For non-profits, look for corporate partners with aligned interests and assets - Leverage your employees' voices - Focus on outcomes, not just process - Be brave and start somewhere – perfection can come later As you embark on your shared value journeys, know that you're part of a community dedicated to creating business value through societal impact. The road may be long, but the potential for change is immense. Let's continue to learn, share, and transform our organisations and communities together.
