About us
The Shared Value Project is a regional community of practice committed to driving adoption and implementation of shared value strategies among leaders and companies, civil society, and government organisations in Australia. The Shared Value Project aims to create a community of business leaders and practitioners in Australia who are dedicated to advancing shared value as the business strategy for solving societal problems. The Shared Value Project supports the development of shared value in Australia via the creation of knowledge, skills and social networks, and by the promotion of member achievements. Shared value is defined as policies and practices that enhance the competitiveness of companies while improving social and environmental conditions in the regions where they operate. It is a business strategy focused on companies creating measurable economic benefit by identifying and addressing social problems that intersect with their business. To qualify as shared value, there must be an identifiable economic benefit to the company as well as measurable impact on a social or environmental issue.

The final day of the Shared Value Executive Education Program 2024 at the University of Melbourne brought the ideation and change process into focus. Leith Sharp led a powerful session on the life of ideas, and what's needed to generate and execute the scale of new thinking needed to address the big challenges of our time. Another highlight of the day was the conversation on how to think about the governance, compliance and financial settings needed to create the organisational context for creating shared value featuring Janette O'Neill, Brad Potter, and Rosemary Addis. Together with the whole cohort and faculty we answered the groups burning questions and provided tangible insights and advice on how to take back learnings and translate them into action. We ended the program with a commitment activity, where participants had time to both reflect and commit to their next 'move'. A big thank you to the University of Melbourne for being such a fantastic host over the past three days and to everyone who contributed to this inspiring program! #SharedValue #PurposeDriven #Day2Recap #UniversityofMelbourne #Leadership #EthicalLeadership #Innovation

Day 1 of the Shared Value Executive Education Program 2024 at the University of Melbourne was full of impactful sessions and hands-on learning. We started by exploring the relationship between profit and purpose with Mark Kramer, guiding us through how businesses can create shared value while addressing societal challenges. The day included interactive activities led by Hugh Foley, where participants applied the theory to real-world contexts, building their shared value strategy toolkit and working on getting closer to the problem. Adam Jay and Dan Crotty shared valuable lessons from the field, followed by a high energy session with Ben Peacock on purpose and its role in keeping you focused and committed to your impact goals. The day ended with an insightful dinner discussion on ethical leadership, with Rosemary Addis, Mark Kramer, Professor Mette Morsing and Sarah Downie. Thank you to University of Melbourne and to the Gourlay Foundation for supporting Professor Mette Morsing's visit to Melbourne! #SharedValue #PurposeDriven #Day1Recap #UniversityofMelbourne #Leadership #EthicalLeadership #Innovation

Another incredible turnout for our Beyond Zero screening in Perth with the team at Berlin. Thank you to everyone who came along, enjoyed the film and engaged in some thought provoking conversations. If you want to learn more about Beyond Zero or are interested in hosting your own screening reach out to us at info@sharedvalue.org.au
Last night we gathered a bunch of passionate people from all corners of the corporate community, for a screening of the documentary, Beyond Zero. Thank you to Emma Watton and the Shared Value Project for partnering with us to share this special film. In the words of one CEO in attendance - ‘I’d love my whole organisation to watch this… it’s inspirational’. One of our key take outs: 💰Vision inspires change, but money motivates action. When you can make a positive financial case for sustainability, CFOs are far more likely to join the crusade. For anyone interested in seeing the film for themselves, please get in contact with Shared Value Project. Last but not least, special thanks to Lawson Flats for hosting the event.
