Today marks a subtle yet meaningful shift in my role at Shockbyte. After 11 years as the Managing Director, a title I chose at the beginning of Shockbyte, I am updating my title to CEO. This change isn't about a shift in responsibilities or a promotion; it's an evolution that reflects the tremendous growth and maturity Shockbyte has achieved. When I founded Shockbyte at 15, the idea of calling myself CEO felt a bit too much. "Managing Director" felt more genuine for the stage we were at - bootstrapped, just me, and later on a small team building the company from our bedrooms (obligatory bedroom photo attached). But Shockbyte isn’t what it was 11 years ago. Over the years, Shockbyte has transformed from a solo operation to a global team of nearly 100, offices in Australia and the Netherlands, and almost 1 million customers served. We've now built a leadership team with the experience and skill to drive each department forward. We recently announced our first major software product - our own game server control panel, built completely in-house. This is something I knew we wanted to build from day 1, but it has only been the last few years where we have had the resources to take on such a monumental project (an early ~9 year old design is even visible on screen in the bedroom photo). I can hardly believe how talented our team is - it is truly incredible and exciting to be a part of. So, why make the change now? Shockbyte is at a pivotal point. We're launching major projects, scaling up, and have so many exciting things happening in the near future. And honestly, it has just become easier since my own team already refers to me as the CEO. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful for the team and community that have supported us. Here’s to continuing this amazing journey together, and to the even more incredible milestones we have yet to achieve.
