Siniat's Weather Defence™ is a rigid air barrier board used behind #façade cladding systems to help regulate the indoor environment. It is classified as #vapour #permeable Class 4 and suitable for colder climates. Its water permeability provides an effective strategy against #condensation buildup in the building envelope. Weather Defence provides the quickest way to a weathertight building. It offers up to 12 months exposure to wind and rain, which means that internal trades can get on with the job before the facade system is completed. #Sustainability in the construction industry is about more than #energy efficiency, #emissions reduction, #recycling and #waste management. Sustainability is not only about the #environmental impact of business activities and decisions - it also has a #social aspect. Social sustainability is about the effects of business activities on the wider #community. Social sustainability involves embracing change to improve the #wellbeing of people - now and into the future. This wellbeing is intertwined with the environmental and economic aspects of sustainability, and influenced by many factors including health, safety, standard of living, equality, community connectedness and freedom. In our blog we discuss social sustainability, which is still often overlooked in the design and specification of new buildings. https://lnkd.in/gCcbmuBA Interested in finding out more? Did you know that Siniat has Environmental Product Declarations (#EPDs) available for our #plasterboard and #metal products? The publication of the EPDs is testimony to our commitment to being a #sustainable manufacturer. It's easy to make sustainability claims, but only an EPD can provide #accurate, #transparent and #verified information about a product. EPDs allow customers access to comparable data and insight into all the relevant information about the product’s life-cycle and environmental impact. Siniat’s Weather Defence™ is a rigid air barrier with a gypsum core that is used in #rainscreen or #ventilated #facade systems. Weather Defence is a great choice for buildings subject to higher wind pressures when wall wrap may not be strong enough. Compared to wall wrap, it is easier to create a #weathertight barrier with Weather Defence. Weather Defence also provides the quickest way to achieve a weathertight building, allowing internal trades to keep working even when the weather turns bad. This means that costly delays can be avoided, saving builders and contractors valuable time on site. Other benefits include: ☂️ Safe and easy to work with – simply score and snap! ☂️ Vapour permeable Class 4 - recommended for use in Climate Zones 2 to 8 ☂️ Improves #airtightness of the building ☂️ Compliant for facades requiring non-combustible construction ☂️ Water, weather and mould resistant – can be left exposed for up to 12 months Want to find out more? According to the National Construction Code (#NCC), building materials used as internal linings need to comply with set #fire #hazard properties. Compliance with the requirements helps to minimise rapid fire and smoke spread in buildings during a fire to ensure the safe and timely evacuation of occupants. In 2019, the NCC introduced tougher test requirements for fire hazard properties to not only stipulate what the fire hazard properties of materials must be, but also how these properties are to be determined by stringent fire testing. This means that having a report or certificate that indicates satisfactory fire hazard properties for a wall or ceiling lining may not be enough to meet the requirements of the NCC. It’s also important to check that these properties were determined by means of the tests that comply with the relevant Australian Standards. In this blog we take a look at group numbers and non-combustibility, and what the relevant tests are to determine these ratings. https://lnkd.in/gmkqrr4S Interested in finding out more? The out of control #wildfires currently raging across California are a stark reminder for Australians of how quickly these fires can spread, and how devastating they can be. The situation in LA highlights the need to reduce the risk of fires impacting suburban and semi-suburban areas. Builders and architects must implement #fire #resistant strategies even before the design stage to give a building a fighting chance of surviving a bushfire. Last year Siniat published a whitepaper on the current landscape of bushfire design in Australia and the relevant building codes, standards and regulations. Download it here: 👉https://lnkd.in/guyZBWfC Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the California wildfires. #inspiringwaysofliving #letsbuildbettertogether
