  • ✨ Authentic, vulnerable, and incredibly powerful. That’s the best way to describe The Power of Her Story event at SPNQ this week. We had the privilege of hearing from Jodie Sangster, Julie Johnston, and Natalie Dukes, three extraordinary female leaders who opened up about their journeys—the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and the resilience it takes to build and grow a business. Their stories were real, raw, and deeply inspiring, reminding us that entrepreneurship isn’t just about success—it’s about navigating uncertainty, embracing growth, and lifting others up along the way. As we approach International Women’s Day, this year’s theme, Accelerating Action for Gender Equality, couldn’t be more relevant. Every bold step taken by a female founder, every challenge to the status quo, and every act of mentorship moves us closer to a more inclusive and equitable future. To all the incredible women in our Female Founders program and beyond—we see your hard work, your ambition, and your determination. And at SPNQ, we are committed to continuing to support and champion women in business. Let’s keep the conversation going—what’s one lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your business journey? Drop it in the comments! 👇 Proudly supported by the Advance Queensland Initiative. Thanks to Townsville City Council, the SPNQ team, ✦ Cassandra Cazzulino ✦, Shelley Grainger, Kim Dempsey, Caitlin Midson, Suz Cardy and the fabulous attendees! #ThePowerOfHerStory #FemaleFounders #WomenInBusiness #IWD2025 #SPNQ

  • Driving Circular Innovation in North Queensland Last week, we were proud to support Townsville City Council in welcoming Local Authority Waste Management Action Committee Inc. (LAWMAC) to Smart Precinct NQ. With nearly 120 delegates in attendance, the event provided a fantastic platform to showcase the innovations, projects, and collaborations driving our city’s transition towards a circular economy. The day was officially opened by Acting Mayor Cr. Ann-Maree Greaney, who reinforced Townsville’s commitment to sustainability and resource recovery. Delegates from regional councils, industry leaders, and sustainability practitioners engaged in insightful discussions on best-practice waste management and circular economy solutions that deliver both economic and environmental benefits. While landfill diversion is a key focus, Acting Mayor Greaney emphasized that the impact of a circular economy extends far beyond waste reduction. It is also a powerful driver of local innovation, job creation, and industry growth. A huge thank you to Hayley Page, Amani Kowero, Greg Bruce, Jason Lange, ✦ Cassandra Cazzulino ✦, Dr Lydia Canovas Saiz, LAWMAC, and everyone involved in making this event a great success! #CircularEconomy #SustainableInnovation #Townsville #SmartPrecinctNQ #LAWMAC #WasteManagement #ResourceRecovery #RegionalLeadership

Keeping Residents and Workers Connected with Real-Time Water Level Monitoring When floodwaters threaten access, every minute counts. That’s why, within 24 hours of being asked, we deployed a water level sensor on AIMS Road—the only way in and out of Cungulla and the Australian Institute of Marine Science. This live monitoring system is already helping residents, emergency crews, and AIMS staff make informed decisions about road conditions. While still a trial initiative, it’s proving the value of real-time, cost effective and rapidly deployable flood intelligence for communities at risk of isolation. We’re keen to hear from councils, industry, and recovery teams—how else can smart monitoring improve flood resilience? Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/eAZK6T8P Check out the community dashboard here: https://lnkd.in/eQXDw-VM Big shout out to Ecocentric Services for taking the lead and the Townsville City Council’s Environmental team as well as Smart Precinct NQ! #floodrecovery #emergencyworks #waterlevelsensing #madeinTownsville #floods
