  • 🧒 Our Mayor, Councillor Clare Williams was excited to receive letters from local grade two and three students recently. 🌳 The letters covered a range of topics, but linked back to our environment. It is clear how passionate they are about the place we live. 👂 It is fantastic to hear from our younger generations on topics that matter to them.

  • 💛 R U OK? Day is a day that encourages us all to check in on those around us by asking this simple, yet powerful question. 🍳 It also showed us all that our Executive Leadership Team aren't just fantastic leaders, but are pretty handy on the BBQ tools too! 🥓 Yesterday, our staff were given the option of breakfast at the Depot, lunch at Coal Creek or visit the quiet reflection room in our Main Office. All of which were well attended by people across the organisation. 🎢 The last 12 months have been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for our organisation, with flooding and two significant storm events behind us and a Council election looming. That's why it is so important for every day to be R U OK? Day and for all of us to take care of ourselves and others. #SGSC #RUOKDay #MentalHealthMatters #EveryDayIsRUOKDay

  • 🌩️ This week, South Gippsland experienced another significant weather event that resulted in extensive power outages, road closures, damaged buildings and fallen trees. 💪 And once again, our region has rallied. Strong, swift and united. 🤝 Residents, emergency services, AusNet and Council worked together to respond to requests that were coming in as quick as they could be written down. Crews were on the road through the night - in appalling conditions - helping to keep our community safe. 🩵 We would like to thank everyone who helped out during the latest storm event, and those who are helping still. 🛣️ We would also like to extend a big thank you to Council's outdoor teams who worked around the clock to clear roads and assist emergency services, only clocking off when the fatigue management limits clicked in. 😲 All up, the team responded to 350 requests for assistance and reopened 136 Council roads in three days. A mammoth effort. 🩵 Thank you. #SGSC #SouthGippsland #WorkingTogether #ThankYou

👋 Yesterday, our Director Performance and Innovation Allison Jones, and Manager Financial Strategy Taryn Abrahamsson attended the Victorian Government's Parliamentary Inquiry into Local Government Funding and Services held in Traralgon. 📄 We made a submission to the Inquiry, detailing the effects of cost shifting from the Victorian and Australian Government, the limited revenue opportunities available in rural and regional areas, and the impact this has on infrastructure and service delivery in South Gippsland communities. 🩵 We look forward to seeing the results of the Inquiry, and thank the Legislative Council's Economy and Infrastructure Committee for hearing directly from us on this issue. #SGSC #LocalGovernment #CostShifting #ParliamentaryInquiry

  • 💜 Wear It Purple Day - a day to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ youth and the allies helping them be proud of who they are, and who they want to be. Our Chief Executive Officer Kerryn Ellis and her CEO counterparts on the One Gippsland Board brought a pop of purple to their August Board Meeting in Sale. 🧁 In our Main Office, a purple-tastic morning tea was held. Members of our Diversity and Inclusion Working Group organised the event, which saw some amazing discussion about how we can make our organisation and community more inclusive for all. #SGSC #WearItPurpleDay #Inclusion
