EXCITING NEWS for NSW Government agencies! We're thrilled to announce the release of NSW Point Version 3 (V3), launching today! At DCS Spatial Services, we’ve developed a powerful application to enhance customer service for our government clients. NSW Point V3 introduces Foundation Spatial Data Indexes (FSDI), connecting geographic coordinates to key administrative data. This means our government customers can now analyse client locations, improve service delivery, and enrich reporting capabilities with intuitive mapping tools. Access is exclusively for NSW Government departments and agencies, however you are invited to check out the NSW Point website: https://lnkd.in/ghAEZP5g. Built on robust infrastructure, V3 not only retains existing real-time address validation features but also expands functionality based on our users’ feedback. In the future, we will be introducing new APIs for property validation, enhancing the way our customers interact with data. #NSWPointV3 #SpatialServices #GovernmentInnovation #CustomerService #DataDrivenInsights #SurveyorGeneral

Do you know how the NSW Spatial Cadastre came into existence? Have you ever wondered how NSW land boundaries were captured within the NSW Spatial Cadastre? Originally, cartographic maps in NSW were hand drawn as individual crown and deposited plans, or larger parish and county maps. As technology advanced, these maps were then digitised to form the Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB). However, with the introduction of survey control, survey plans and quality orthorectified imagery, inaccuracies were identified in the original digitised cadastral data, which continue to be corrected to this day. Learn more about the history of the NSW Spatial Cadastre, and our work to improve the accuracy of this vital piece of digital infrastructure, on our website: https://lnkd.in/gR2yXjkk #DCSSpatialServces #SurveyorGeneral #NSWCadastre #Spatial #Data #DCDB

SURVEY MARK OF THE MONTH: TS7220 Barrenjoey TS7220 Barrenjoey is located at Barrenjoey Head, near Palm Beach, overlooking Pittwater and the Tasman Sea. This trig station has been used for over 140 years by surveyors. During these years this survey monument has been restored many times due to impacted by lightning, bush fires, vandalism and a world war. This survey mark was originally placed in 1882. Due to it being situated on the headland, its position was incorporated into defence land where searchlights were installed close to the trig station to support the wider Hawkesbury Fire Command. In 1975 the stone cairns and mast were dismantled and replaced with a PVC mast and galvanised iron tripod support. This new modification to the trig station lasted 10 years before being replaced by a steel pillar placed on a concrete slab. In the last 40 years alone, this survey mark has endured many natural disasters - including being hit by lightning and being burnt in 2013 in bushfires. DCS Spatial Services replaced the destroyed mast and vanes in August 2018, clearing the beautiful view of the Tasman Sea and Pittwater, and once again in 2023, to ensure the longevity of this valuable survey mark. This survey mark has been transformed from its initial stone cairns, wooden mast and vanes built in 1882 to its stainless-steel mast, vanes and galvanised steel pillar in 2024. #SurveyMark #TrigStation #Barrenjoey #SurveyorGeneral
