Three Year 12 Stars from Casuarina Senior College: Matilda, Tamika and Myah, in Darwin, NT, kindly shared their insights on Stars with MECCA Brands M-POWER to celebrate International Day of the Girl. The 2024 theme set by the United Nations is ‘Girls’ Vision For The Future’. This year’s theme conveys both the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for the future. https://lnkd.in/grhtqCHy #empowerment #sisterhood

A highlight of Term 3 was when Stars from Casuarina Senior College, Palmerston College and Jabiru Area School were invited to attend the Strong Women For Healthy Country Network Forum at Crab Claw Island in the Northern Territory. Students got to witness the amazing work that women from across the Top End are doing to support each other, acknowledging the significant and vast roles that women undertake in our families, in our communities and in caring for Country. It was great to see our young women making connections with Elders and other strong women from all across the NT. It was an empowering experience and a powerful message: "We stand united as one strong voice and commit to a network that gives equal power to the rights of all our women. Strong women means healthy Country." #community #culture

Stars Foundation recently hosted the 2024 Futures Forum in Darwin at the Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network, and it was a truly memorable event for the 50 Year 12 Stars students in attendance. We were honoured to be welcomed to Country by Year 12 student, Tamika, with Larrakia descendants, Trent and Shannon, Lee leading a powerful traditional smoking ceremony. Distinguished guest speakers captivated and inspired Stars students with their stories and invaluable guidance on how to embrace and navigate the opportunities that lie ahead. Students were presented with a wealth of opportunities, including traineeships, apprenticeships, and employment offers, along with insightful perspectives on their future career paths. We extend heartfelt gratitude to Stars partners: Downer, INPEX Australia, Newmont Australia, Santos Ltd and Woolworths Supermarkets for their involvement in the Futures Forum and ongoing support. Special thanks also to the following organisations for their participation and enthusiasm: AKJ Services, Defence Australia, Bunnings, Darwin Port, Menzies School of Health Research, Northern Territory Government and Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services. #FirstNations #pathways
