For every dollar a man makes in Australia, a woman earns 89 cents. This year Equal Pay Day falls 50 days after the end of the financial year, representing the number of extra days women needed to work to make the same amount as men last year. The gender pay gap will cost the average woman over $1 million dollars in her lifetime – and that doesn’t add up. This Equal Pay Day, we're joining forces with our long-term partners at Women's & Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) to empower the women in our communities to get on top of their finances. Economic security (or lack thereof) has a huge impact in women’s access to safety and housing. By breaking down taboos, advocating for equality and levelling the playing field, we can increase women’s financial wellbeing. Our partnership and shared passion for women’s financial wellbeing plays a key role in building safer futures for women.
