Stride towards a better tomorrow with Australia’s leading mental health charity
About us
We’re 100% dedicated to providing services that improve the lifelong mental health of children, young people and adults – and help people with complex needs live better. Although Stride began 116 years ago simply as a way to help people find a place to live and work, we’re now leaders in early intervention, prevention and treatment of complex mental health conditions. We are continuing to build on the work we do with families and communities to roll out more evidence-based services across Australia. Today Stride employs nearly 800 staff providing mental health services for 18,000 Australians in more than 65 locations. We proudly operate a variety of services including Safe Spaces, Safe Havens, Head to Health and headspace centres throughout the eastern seaboard. In addition to this we provide NDIS Support Coordination, Therapeutic Supports, Recovery Coaching, Supported Independent Living services and a range of complex and higher risk NDIS services.

As several Directors conclude their term as Directors of Stride, we’d like to share that Dr Dean Blomson will be leaving the Stride Board. Dr Dean Blomson has been with the Stride Board for 12 years. He was Chair of the Board for two of those years - overseeing a board and leadership refresh and transformation of the organisation - and has played a vital role in the Strategy and Governance Committees. Dean’s sharp mind and focus on strategy and governance provided Stride with guidance on the direction Stride needs to take, and how the market and consumers alike might view that. His counsel was always welcome, and he has been integral to decisions that have been made along the way. He has strongly advocated for consumer well-being and meeting consumer needs with high-quality services. The Chair and the Stride Board thanks Dean for his commitment and dedication and we extend our warmest gratitude for his years of service. We wish him all the best for the future.

Due to the conclusion of her term, we'd like to share that Marianne Karam will be leaving the Stride Board. Marianne Karam has spent 10 years as a Director and has also been a key contributor to the Finance and Audit Committee, the IT Committee and the People and Culture Committee. Marianne is a critical thinker with a keen eye for detail and has always brought these capabilities to discussions and decisions. Marianne has contributed to Stride’s expansion and services growth as we considered changes in business models and what this means for mental health. Marianne reminded us of the importance of putting the consumer at the centre of our decision-making, and her astuteness has been much appreciated over the years. We thank Marianne for her service and wish her all the best.

With 1 in 5 Australians facing mental health challenges each year, mental health isn’t just a personal issue - it’s a workplace issue. Whether you're a colleague, manager, or team member, we can all help create a supportive environment. 💜 65% of those struggling don't seek help, often due to stigma. 💜 Workplaces that prioritise mental health see increased productivity and happier, more engaged employees. Start by fostering open conversations and offering a safe space to talk. Let’s build workplaces where mental health is a priority, not a taboo. It’s never too late to ask for help --> https://loom.ly/QB8eWUM #StrideMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellness #MentalHealth
