Render vs. Reality. In 2018, we joined a female client and predominantly female consultant team tasked with creating a landmark development in South Melbourne. Led by Sandra Rigo, our planning input during the design and planning application phases helped navigate the statutory process. With a planning permit initially granted in 2019, it was successfully amended in 2021 despite multiple objections. Fast forward to 2024, construction is now complete, and we can confidently say that the render is indeed faithful to the reality of a project that highlights the impact and capability of women in the development industry. We are very proud of the project and all the women involved. Anne Michaels #shebuilt #agiusscorpo

We are thrilled to announce that Studio Jam has had the incredible opportunity to collaborate on an extraordinary eco-friendly project with our esteemed partners at McIldowie Partners Architects. Together, we have showcased breathtaking renders for the renowned Woodleigh School. Let us take a moment to elaborate on the significance of this project and why it holds a special place in our hearts. Woodleigh School is more than just a building; it is a living testament to sustainability, nurturing the ecosystem, and fostering a healthy environment for all beings. By incorporating regenerative systems, the amazing team have created a space that not only benefits humans but also provides enriching learning opportunities for Year 10 student projects. The green roof offers a protected planting area, enabling the cultivation of indigenous flowers crucial to the survival of native butterflies, bees, and birds. Through the efforts, they will reintroduce 2,500 additional plants, including a butterfly habitat and roof garden. Bird boxes placed beneath solar panels serve as targeted habitats for small native birds. Aquaponics tanks, housing native fish, yabbies, and freshwater mussels, not only contribute to the ecosystem but also offer valuable learning experiences and serve as a food source. Solar power fuels the building for 85-90% of its operational time, ensuring sustainable energy usage. Passive solar design reduces energy consumption. Each classroom has individual sub-circuit monitoring and reporting capabilities, offering real-time metrics, learning opportunities, and the chance for behavioural adjustments. Wicking bed green roof incorporates stormwater detention, alleviating pressure on the civic stormwater system, mitigating flooding, and reducing the need for additional watering. The team have implemented a comprehensive stormwater strategy, utilising bioswales, soakage pits, and absorption zones to optimise water management across the site. Joinery features Australia's first locally produced Hemp board, a sustainable alternative with a lower environmental impact. Straw-board walls and ceilings sequester approximately 75,000kg-C02e, combating climate change. The cork coating utilises a regenerative waste stream material, aligning with the commitment to sustainability. We like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in this remarkable undertaking. Special thanks to McIldowie Partners Architects, @joostbakker, @sebs_morningtonpeninsula, @woodleighschool, Frank Burridge and @samcoxlandscape Together, we are making a difference in creating a sustainable future. Join us on this transformative journey! #sustainability #ecofriendly #regenerativearchitecture #environmentallyresponsible
