Success Works is proud to be part of the KWOOP community of practice that was launched at the NSW parliamentary breakfast on March 19, 2025. Our very own Kat Armstrong presented a KWOOP Appreciation and Dedication Award to the Hon. Elizabeth Evatt AC, who has over 7 decades of being an influential and inspiring woman, including being appointed as the first woman Chief Justice of the Family Law Court of Australia in 1975. Please read a snippet of Elizabeth Evatt AC work: https://lnkd.in/gvP5W-Wa It was an honour and privilege for Kat and for Success Works to be asked to present this truly deserving KWOOP award to the Hon. Elizabeth Evatt AC.

Supporting women with a criminal record into employment through mentoring, one-to-one support, and employer connections.
About us
Success Works unlocks the potential of women with a criminal record through our mentoring program, one-to-one support, and job readiness workshops. We also work with employers to help them address structural issues that create barriers to these women finding employment. Our vision is a world where women who have been impacted by the criminal justice system face ZERO discrimination in recruitment and employment. Success Works Partners is a culturally safe, independent, not-for-profit social enterprise with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status. Our partnership model transforms the lives of women affected by the criminal justice system by empowering them to present themselves to an employer who sees their skills and potential and not the record. We break down the barriers to employment for women with a criminal record through employer engagement, training and advocating for change. All of our client-facing staff have lived-experience. Success Works acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we work. We acknowledge the disproportionate number of Indigenous, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in the criminal justice system and the impact on women, children and communities. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Once contact has been made with the criminal justice system, many become caught in a cycle of incarceration that is difficult to break. Especially for First Nations communities, a lack of adequate support further establishes inequalities, perpetuates economic and social exclusion, and compounds the loss of purpose, family, and culture [Australia’s Criminal Justice System, 2021]. Success Works advocates for health equality as a fundamental right for all and strives to support women trying to break the cycle. National Close the Gap Day calls for all Australians to advocate for health equity and take meaningful action to create more nurturing conditions for First Nations Peoples in all spaces.

International Women's Day 2025: Marching Forward Together This year, we stand proudly with the movement to empower women to March Forward. At Pinsent Masons Lawyers Gateway Tower in Sydney, Success Works Board member Eleni and staff member Natascha shared their personal journeys, shedding light on the transformative work Success Works is doing to break down barriers and create lasting opportunities for women. We also engaged in critical conversations around addressing record checks, risk management procedures, and the importance of inclusive hiring practices. These discussions are vital in removing obstacles and paving the way for more women to succeed. Together, we are not just imagining a more inclusive future—we are actively building it.

We’re thrilled to announce that Success Works has received further funding from the Judith Neilson Foundation! This support will help us expand our program and continue empowering individuals to rebuild their lives. One of those inspiring individuals is Marie who transformed her life after facing the challenge of a criminal record that made finding work feel impossible. After connecting with Success Works in October 2023, she gained the confidence and skills to see a future where her past no longer held power over her. Marie has now been thriving in her job for over a year and continues to rebuild her confidence every day. We’re so grateful for the Judith Neilson Foundation’s continued support!
