    Peak Season Tips # 11 : Book your Pickups the day before (or several days before) will enable us to arrange a morning pickup for the next day. This increases the chance that the orders will be onboard for delivery as soon as possible; ahead of the afternoon pickups. Provide us with the details on your orders so we can arrange for the right size van or truck(s) to fit all of your shipments, e.g. the number of parcels or pallets; dimensions & weights.     Peak Season Tip # 10 : Extend your lead times. Help the over-stretched carriers by creating more time for delivery success: - Allow an(other) extra day for deliveries on the usual schedule - Consider booking Express or Airfreight rather than General - Ask your customers to order in bulk, and / or order earlier than usual - Communicate with customers on their expectations at this time of year

    Peak Season tip # 9 - Use appropriate packaging. During Peak Season it is more important than ever that you get your packaging right. So that, for example, your consignment is not held up in an automated conveyor belt at the carrier’s depot. Any package that does not travel well down an automated conveyor belt will be put aside for manual sortation. This increases the chance that it will be lost or delivered late. As well as receiving a manual handling fee. You should know the size and weight limitations for each carrier that you use. Size limitations might mean overall dimensions or limitations to length. Don't select the wrong carrier or you may not get it delivered on time. Contact us for assistance if this is an issue you struggle with.     Freight Myth - Giving all of your freight to the one carrier means receiving the lowest freight costs; the most competitive rates. False! While it is true that providing higher volume to a carrier generally means getting more competitive rates and therefore providing all your freight to one carrier should, at first glance, appear to provide the most competitive rates, it does NOT actually mean that you will achieve the lowest rates, reduce freight bill over spreading your freight across 2 or more carriers. Our bespoke Business Intelligence system, combined with our expertise in Logistics, can produce analytical reports that can reveal a lower freight cost across a range of carriers, rather than when modelling shipping all freight with the one carrier.     Peak Season Tips - # 8 : Clearly label your Packaging. Make sure there are no unnecessary stickers, or torn labels, or strappings covering over the receiver details. Add the receiver’s name & phone number to the consignment note and / or Special Instructions. Add a reference number where supplied. If the driver or staff at the carrier’s depot cannot scan or read the labels, then the chances of your freight being delivered late or even lost will increase. This is not something you want to have occur in Peak Season when carriers are under more pressure. Take the time to put in the right processes, to do it right the first time and save time at the delivery end of the process. #peakseason #tips #freightmanagement #packaging

    Peak Season Tips : # 7 Put on Hold or Forward Date your shipments in your TMS If some days in the Peak Season period are busier than others, then you might want to consider filling in most of the details on the shipment in your Shipping Platform, and then putting them on Hold so that you can quickly and easily process them once they are packed and ready to be picked up. Alternatively you can Forward Date your shipments in your Transport Management Software (TMS) system or Freight Management Software (FMS) system. This means that you can process your orders a day or two earlier than the pickup date to get ahead of the workload, and smooth out the weekly orders if need be. This is particularly important if you will anticipate staff shortages on certain days and need to reduce the workload. #peakseason #tips #freightmanagement #shippingsolutions
