MISTAKES GRANT APPLICANTS MAKE Want to apply for a grant? Stop. 🚫 Make sure you've thought about... 👉 Whether you have the skill set or capacity to manage the grant Winning a grant is always thrilling - until you realise it's not just free money. Any grant program giving away a substantial amount of funding will have some level of reporting that you need to provide back to the grantmaker, with varying cadences. Some are monthly, some are quarterly. Before you leap into a new grant application, consider whether you or your team can take on the extra work of not only delivering on reporting deadlines but also to project deadlines outlined in the future funding agreement. 👉 Whether you have a project that needs funding Most grant programs don't give out money for no reason, or to support BAU operational expenses. You need a real project that matches the impact that grantmaker wants to see as an outcome - so if there isn't a project, or if the project was haphazardly created just to try to win a grant, you're unlikely to be successful. 👉 Whether you're targeting the right grants for YOUR organisation Grants come with expectations - sometimes they're financial a.k.a a program that has co-contribution requirements where you have to provide funding that matches the grant. Before you apply, read ALL of the details provided by the grantmaker, and make sure there's no matched funding or co-contribution required from the recipient. If you miss this detail, you could end up winning the grant, but signing up for a bill you never expected. #GrantApplications #GrantWriting

We are on the roaadddd again! Or… Should I say, in the clouds? 💨 Kristen Harvey and I are off to see the team at Shire of Leonora for 3 days of SurePact training, and we are so excited! A big plane from Brisbane followed by a tiny plane to the Northern Goldfields in WA. We truly get see some incredible places while visiting our regional clients! 😍✈️🤯
