Surf Coast Shire Council is working with MosaicLab Co to engage the community and get ideas for the creation of our Council Plan. The project - dubbed Our Focus, Our Future - included an in-person and online survey that generated over 1000 submissions, and the formation of a community panel. These 45 residents and ratepayers from across the shire are working together to provide advice to Council on what the Council Plan should look like. Find out more by visiting the project page at https://lnkd.in/e33qHHPC Here is a video recap of the first in-person session on 1 March:

Our Economic Development team is running a series of free Better Business Skills workshops aimed at helping small businesses on the Surf Coast. Topics are based on feedback given to us through last year’s Business Insights Survey. Yesterday attendees enjoyed a valuable session with Arthur Street Digital director Matt Cowdell, learning how to increase their visibility on Google and get found by new customers. Our next workshop on 27 March will cover Canva and content creation, providing practical tools and tips for improved social media. A redeployment opportunity when childcare centres closed during the COVID-19 pandemic set former early years educator Bronwyn Wojtowicz on the path to a rewarding career change. Five years later, Bronwyn’s a certified horticulturalist and a valued member of our Open Space Maintenance team, helping to look after: - 7.67 million square metres of public open space such as sporting reserves, nature reserves and roadsides - 19km of sealed paths and 39km of unsealed paths - Close to 50 playgrounds - Maintenance of skate parks, bike parks, public fitness equipment, tennis and netball courts, and streetscapes “I wasn’t sure if the change would be successful, but I think you’re successful if you enjoy what you’re doing, and I am enjoying it,” Bronwyn says. “I really respect and value the people I get to work with. They are always supportive, easygoing and make the work day fun.” Bronwyn was featured in the first edition of our new monthly e-newsletter, Country and Waters.
