Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport’s has just reached a massive milestone! The viaduct has now been constructed over the Warragamba pipelines, which are the two pipelines responsible for transferring 80 percent of Sydney's water from Warragamba Dam to filtration plants for treatment. The 3.5 kilometre viaduct, which will connect Orchard Hills to Luddenham, is more than 80 percent complete. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ga7MrQBj

Tunnel boring machines (TBMs) Daphne and Beatrice are nearing the end of their journey! After breaking through at North Strathfield Station site, they now have less than two kilometres of tunnel to build before reaching their final destination at Sydney Olympic Park for Sydney Metro West. From Monday 30 September 2024, the T3 Bankstown Line from Sydenham to Bankstown will be closed to enable the final conversion of the 130-year-old line to modern metro standards. Free replacement bus services, known as Southwest Link, will keep passengers moving for the entire conversion period, until the estimated completion date of late 2025. Our Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport tunnel boring machines (TBMs) have officially moved on. Eileen, Peggy, Catherine and Marlene have been dismantled, washed and lifted by tower cranes to be transported back to the TBM manufacturer. Now that tunnelling is complete, work continues on the 23-kilometre line including completing the construction of 39 cross passages inside the tunnels and preparing for track laying to begin.

1.4 million 😍 That’s how many metro trips have been made on the new M1 Northwest & Bankstown Line since the city section opened from Chatswood to Sydenham last Monday! Sydneysiders were also out in droves on opening weekend with more than 300,000 metro trips recorded on the new line.
