It was really great to be part of the Quantum Meets Finance event organized by the Office of the Chief Scientist together with CSIRO and the Sydney Quantum Academy. This event is part of a series of sector-based workshops, which link industry leaders with quantum companies and researchers. The event aims at building a shared understanding of both the challenges faced by the finance sector and how quantum technologies may provide solutions, together with, raising awareness of the opportunities of quantum technologies for the finance sector and catalyzing conversation around opportunities and future applications. I was asked by Cathy Foley to chair the "Integrating Quantum in Commercial and Strategic Planning" panel joined by Peter Turner, Dilan Rajasingham, Nicholas Giurietto and Robert Wilson. ◾ The advent of quantum computing challenges our deepest understanding of what is possible within the finance sector. ◾ Quantum computing can offer not just incremental advancements, but the potential to revolutionize the finance sector entirely.  ◾ The timeline for the full realization of quantum capabilities within finance sector remains unpredictable, and the potential risks are as vast and profound as the opportunities.  ◾ Quantum computing within the finance sector necessitates a comprehensive re-evaluation of our approach to everything-from risk management frameworks to strategic investments, from regulatory compliance to the profound ethical considerations inherent in leveraging such a potentially-disruptive technology. ◾ The integration of quantum computing into commercial and strategic planning is a strategic imperative that can clearly shape the forthcoming era of financial innovation. The panel discussion provided an excellent opportunity to conceptualize how the finance sector can align its strategic visions with the quantum horizon and how it can leverage this groundbreaking technology to unlock new opportunities while simultaneously safeguarding against the numerous risks it introduces.
