About us
Established in 1860 Tahbilk is one of Australia's most beautiful and historic family-owned wineries. Located in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria (120kms north of Melbourne), one of the nation's premium viticultural areas. Purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, Tahbilk is the oldest family-owned winery and vineyard in Victoria, Australia. As proud custodians of Tahbilk Estate, the family has been at the forefront of sustainability, ensuring Tahbilk’s rich heritage, winemaking style and unique natural environment is protected for the enjoyment of all for many years to come. Situated within the traditional lands of the Taungurung people tabilk-tabilk means place of many waterholes. A name which aptly describes the landscape and recognises the uniqueness of Tahbilk Estate’s location. As one of only eight wine regions worldwide, dramatically influenced by inland water mass, our unique environment lies at the heart of our ability to craft wines of exceptional quality for generations. Our winemaking approach, in combination with our unique climate and world-class soils, means our wines truly pay homage to the place they are grown, the people who made them and five generations of family heritage and craft.

We've reprinted the 'Chateau Tahbilk' label as a tribute to our storied heritage. While the decision to revert to 'Tahbilk' over 24 years ago marked a new chapter for the winery, this special edition label pays homage to the past and celebrates the history that has shaped the brand. By revisiting 'Chateau Tahbilk,' the winery honours its rich legacy and invites wine lovers to reflect on its evolution from 1860 to today. This reprint serves as a meaningful connection to the traditions and values that continue to define Tahbilk.
