Changing young lives through meaningful employment.

About us

Talent RISE, established in 2014, is the charitable foundation of Talent, born out of our vision to facilitate real world solutions to empower and change the lives of young people. We do this by providing education, training, life skills and opportunities to gain independence and purpose through employment. We work with young people aged 16-25 years old, who are experiencing challenging barriers to employment, and work closely with our clients to source training, job opportunities, internships and also host workshops. Since our launch, we have engaged with 3500+ young people in employment initiatives and have placed over 500 into meaningful employment. Our mission is to upskill and empower young people to commence and build thriving sustainable careers in future-facing enterprises, whilst assisting employers in building inclusive working environments which will deliver the business benefits derived from a more diverse workforce.

One main factor that locks young people out of employment opportunities is a lack of work experience. Here at RISE, we want to set young people up for success and bridge this gap. 🤝   Paid internships can be life-changing but are often impossible to secure. Our Paid Work Experience Scheme funds internships which provide critical experience to help young people gain confidence and a direct pathway to long-term employment and security.   With 2 weeks to go until our Step Up Challenge, Team Talent continue their fundraising before we all put our tools down globally on 6 September to walk 20km. “Only having worked as a casual in hospitality, I was worried about making the transition into other companies. Because of my lack of experience, very few places wanted to hire someone they would have to train or teach.”   Enter our Paid Work Experience Scheme. Paid internships provide critical work experience helping young people gain the confidence and soft skills required to secure full-time employment – opening new doors that might not be available otherwise.   If you’d like to donate and help support more young people like Charlotte break into the workforce, head here for more info: https://lnkd.in/g8SBTupA

The challenges are endless for young people resettling into a new country, even more so when it's out of their control. Here at RISE, we understand that a job is not just a job; it’s clothes, safe housing, connections, self-worth, security, purpose, and future. The list is endless!   That’s why we’ve developed an Equal Access Program to support refugee and asylum seeker youth, by helping to cover the cost of training (alongside RISE mentorship) to provide a platform and pathway for long-term security.   With 3 weeks to go until our Step Up Challenge, Team Talent will continue to fundraise in the following weeks before we put our tools down globally on 6 September to walk 20km. Experiencing PTSD, 18-year-old Vernon was referred to our team through the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre upon his arrival into Australia. Through our Equal Access Program, we were able to help cover the cost of his tuition, uniform, and equipment. Vernon is now flourishing in his Certificate III Commercial Cookery course at Victoria University and is closer to achieving his dreams of becoming a chef. 👨🏽🍳   Launched in 2023, our Equal Access Program supports young people from refugee, asylum seeker or First Nations backgrounds by covering the cost of training, alongside RISE mentorship, to provide a pathway towards long-term security.   If you would like to donate and help support more young people like Vernon, head here for more info: https://lnkd.in/g3BEC4AA #equalaccessprogram #scholarship #creatingopportunities #youngpeople #training

Did you know? Only 44% of young people secure permanent jobs matching their working hours preferences within five years of graduating.   With youth unemployment and underemployment rates increasing year on year, here at RISE, we feel driven to do what we can to support young people into meaningful employment opportunities with real-world solutions.   Enter one of our initiatives – an EnterTech Program funding young people into work placements and training to provide direct pathways into tech roles. 👨💻   With 4 weeks to go until our Step Up Challenge, Team Talent will be fundraising in the following weeks before we put our tools down globally on 6 September to walk 20km. Anastasia's always wanted to turn her passion for technology into a career, but a few mental health struggles made this challenging. With the RISE team’s support and training, she was able to gain the confidence to showcase her passion and customer service expertise, and is now thriving in her role at Collingwood Football Club.   Launched last year, our EnterTech program funds young people through work placements and training to acquire invaluable skills and experience. This opportunity provides them with a clear pathway into tech roles – a pathway they would have previously thought near impossible. If you would like to donate to support our cause, head here for more info: https://lnkd.in/g8SBTupA #techcareer #youthemployment #entrylevel

Last week Talent RISE was honoured to be the official charity partner at the 2024 HR Symposium organised by Ashton Media. It was great to have the opportunity to speak to so many people leaders about how we can work together to support and provide opportunities to change young lives through employment, and deliver to DE&I and ESG initiatives. Would love to continue the conversations and also talk to anyone who'd like to hear more. Tim Stuart-Harris Stacey Goater Rosanna McConnachie

Our Step Up Challenge is back and we’re on a mission to create meaningful opportunities for young people. On Friday, 6th September we’ll be walking 20km alongside all of team Talent in major cities around the world to raise awareness and funds for youth employment.   With all our overheads and running costs generously funded by Talent, every cent we raise through this event goes directly to young people experiencing challenging barriers to employment.   Want to donate or get involved? Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou o Māori! Matariki marks the start of the Māori New Year in Aotearoa, and as this will be our third annual rā whakatā ā-ture (public holiday) celebrating, it’s a reflection of the growing recognition and importance of Matariki in New Zealand culture. The name Matariki means “tiny eyes” or “eyes of God” in Māori and represents the rising of the star cluster, more commonly known as Pleiades. At Talent RISE, we’re advocates for helping our young people reach for the stars and uplifting their mana through the power of employment. If you are a young person wanting to begin that journey or an employer who is wanting to empower the lives of more rangatahi (young people) across the motu, please reach out to our team in Aotearoa - Shanelle Partridge, Taylor-Rose Lealaisalanoa and Jade Kopua. If you would like to learn more about Matariki, the symbolism of the stars for Māori, or how you may want to celebrate the occasion, feel free to check out this website to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJdvipcr Mānawatia a Matariki, e te iwi. #matariki #māorinewyear #youthempowerment #rangatahi
