The move is set to save households up to $1,000 off their annual energy bills and cut household emissions significantly. 🏡 What's Changing? New homes in Victoria will now only connect to all-electric networks. Residents will enjoy more efficient, cleaner, and cheaper electric appliances, and can save even more—up to $2,200 annually—if solar installations are included. 🛠️ Transition Support A $10 million Residential Electrification Grants program will offer bulk rebates for solar panels and heat pumps to new home buyers. Also, $1 million is allocated for targeted training to help the construction industry transition smoothly to all-electric and 7-star homes. 💡 Why This Matters Victoria is Australia's highest user of residential gas, contributing to about 17% of the state's emissions. This all-electric pivot is a strategic move towards achieving Victoria's ambitious emission reduction targets: 75-80% by 2035 and net-zero by 2045. 🌞 Solar Homes Program New home builders and existing homeowners can access the Solar Homes program offering $1,400 solar panel rebates and interest-free loans of $8,800 for household batteries. 📈 The Bottom Line Transitioning to all-electric homes is a game-changer for both the environment and household budgets.
