Our comprehensive assessment of silt levels in a 2.4km ocean outfall, using a sonar-equipped sub from the MSI toolkit, proved the effectiveness of the cleaning program, reducing silt volume from 479m³ to just 40m³ over the decade. Navigating the challenges of variable flow output and tidal cycles was no easy feat, but we successfully tethered a rope through the pipeline, ensuring safe and efficient operations—even accessing the downstream surge chamber through a farmer’s paddock post-harvest!
