💡 Friday Thought 💡 "It's not your job to make everyone happy. Focus on what brings you fulfillment and joy. When you thrive, the right people will gravitate towards you." Happy Friday! 🌟 #FridayThoughts #SelfCare #Fulfillment #Happiness #WorkLifeBalance

CEO, Active Voice. Creating bold leaders and better workplaces in design + tech.

A Friday thought for y'all: It's not your job to absorb the pain of your company's poor choices. If your company has... - Underinvested in design or accessibility, and the user experience is suffering - Understaffed a team until it's spread too thin to cover all the work - Underplanned a critical project and it's now going off the rails Those are organizational problems, not personal burdens. Even if you really, really care about your users. Even if you hate seeing subpar design or content go live. Because when you absorb an organization's pain by overworking and overperforming and being the savior, you become a human band-aid. You protect your organization from feeling the pain of its own choices—and then the organization doesn't have an incentive to change. So your wellbeing suffers, but the status quo remains. You deserve to be valued for your true expertise—not just for being a human band-aid. Your organization may or may not know how to value that. But the first step to finding out is to stop absorbing their pain.

Do you sometimes wonder about your employee's engagement? Surveys can only say so much. I really liked this blog post with tangible tips of how to spot possible concerns: Can you recognize these characters in your organisation? 🤔 1. The Clock Watcher: Focused more on the clock than their work, rushing through tasks without care. 2. The Minimalist: Meets only the bare minimum, avoiding extra responsibilities or growth. 3. The Complainer: Constantly negative, lowering morale with persistent dissatisfaction. 4. The Disconnected: Mentally and emotionally detached, showing little enthusiasm or purpose. 5. The Silent Observer: Rarely participates, hindering team collaboration with their silence. 6. The Vanishing Act: Disappears during critical moments, avoiding urgent tasks. 7. The Complacent: Uninterested in growth, stuck in their comfort zone. 8. The Silent Treatment: Avoids communication, contributing nothing to team discussions. Can you think of any other examples? Please share in the comments below. 👇 #employeeengagement #employeeexperience

Think ignoring your corporate culture only affects office morale? Think again. The costs run deeper than you might realize: 💨 High Turnover: Constantly replacing talent drains resources and institutional knowledge. 📉 Reduced Productivity: Disengaged employees are less efficient and innovative. 🤒 Increased Absenteeism: Poor culture often leads to higher stress and more sick days. 👎 Damaged Reputation: Word spreads fast, making future recruitment challenging. 📊 Lower Performance: Unhappy teams rarely achieve peak results. 🚫 Missed Opportunities: A toxic culture stifles creativity and risk-taking. 💔 Customer Dissatisfaction: Internal issues often reflect in customer interactions. The bottom line? Cultural indifference isn't just a HR issue—it's a major business liability. Investing in your company culture isn't a luxury; it's a strategic imperative for long-term success and profitability. How are you nurturing your corporate culture? Ever wondered how some companies manage to keep their top talent for years while others struggle with high turnover? Let's dive into the strategies that industry leaders use to create a workplace where employees want to stay and grow. As much as we love to hear the ONE perfect "how to" guide - it's not as easy as that. Your employees are human first. And the one thing we have in common is that we are all different and with that comes different preferences, desires and needs. Depending on age and life circumstances topics like security, salary, status, career opportunities or recognition have different priorities. Research says the biggest three reason why people leave are:   1. A bad direct Manager 2. No advancement/   development 3. More money As a Leader, ask yourself what you can control and focus on this: Be kind, be a good person, trust your people. If you have the luxury of internal Organisational Development, ideally their strategy will include the following. 🌱 Growth Opportunities: Investing in employee development and clear career paths 🤝 Sense of Belonging: Fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued 🎯 Purpose-Driven Work: Connecting individual roles to the company's mission 🏆 Recognition and Rewards: Acknowledging and appreciating employee contributions 📊 Work-Life Balance: Prioritizing employee wellbeing and flexibility 💬 Open Communication: Encouraging transparent dialogue at all levels 🚀 Empowerment: Trusting employees with autonomy and decision-making power By focusing on these areas, companies create an environment where employees don't just work – they thrive and flourish. What retention strategies have you found most effective in your organization? Share your insights below! 👇 #EmployeeRetention #WorkplaceCulture #TalentManagement #LeadershipStrategies

Are Toxic Workplace Behaviors Dragging Your Team Down? 😬 Negativity, gossip, bullying, and backstabbing – these are just a few examples of toxic workplace behaviors that can insidiously undermine your team's morale, performance, and overall organizational culture. Left unchecked, toxicity can spread like wildfire, creating a hostile environment that hinders success. The Detrimental Effects: ⬇ 📉 Plummeting Productivity: Toxic behaviors breed mistrust, fear, and disengagement, ultimately leading to a significant decrease in productivity and output. 👎 High Turnover Rates: No one wants to work in a toxic environment. Top talents will soon seek greener pastures, resulting in costly turnover and loss of valuable expertise. 💔 Damaged Morale: Negativity and toxicity can quickly erode team spirit, leaving employees feeling demotivated, stressed, and dissatisfied with their work. 🚫 Stifled Innovation: A toxic culture discourages risk-taking and open communication, stifling creativity and innovation – essential ingredients for long-term success. 🌹 By opening up bit by bit and around someone you trust, you can learn to show the world how amazing your true self is. 🌹 If you want to increase trust in your teams, it’s not about the big gestures like presents or events like after-work drinks. For a team, it's the small but incremental conversations when we open up beyond work that truly matter. Ask simple questions like, "How was your weekend?" and remember to follow up with, "How was the wedding you attended last week?" Give positive feedback and encouragement. Show that you have each other's backs in times of need. It's these genuine, consistent connections that build a foundation of trust. Let’s focus on the little things that make a big difference. 💬✨ Thank you @LizandMollie for your continuous creative genius of showing the complicated in a simple way! #Teamwork #Trust #Leadership #TeamBuilding #EmployeeEngagement
