💚 Today is Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants Day! 💚   Today we celebrate and thank all of you for the support you give to your teams and your dedication to caring for your communities. Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants play a vital yet often behind-the-scenes role in ensuring their community's healthcare needs are met efficiently. They are the friendly faces customers see at the dispensary, answering questions and checking in with customers on their health and medications. Working closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants help manage everyone's care and ensure that everything runs smoothly in the pharmacy, so customers receive the right medications and support quickly and accurately. Thank you! 💚 #DedicatedtoCare #Communitypharmacy #healthcare

🌍 Happy World Pharmacists Day! 💚   Today, we celebrate the true champions of community health – our incredible pharmacists! Your unwavering dedication, expertise, and compassion shape the lives of every patient you care for, and we couldn't be more proud or grateful for all that you do.   This year's theme, "Pharmacists meeting global health needs," highlights the growing role pharmacists play in addressing healthcare challenges, both globally and here in Australia. As your scope of practice continues to expand, you're stepping up to meet the ever-evolving needs of our communities. Thank you for embracing this responsibility and delivering exceptional care, every day.   Our Chief Pharmacist, Brenton Hart, recently had the privilege of sitting down with Pharmaceutical Society of Australia President Dr. Fei Sim to explore why pharmacists are pivotal in addressing healthcare needs worldwide and here at home. They also discuss what lies ahead for the profession – exciting times indeed!   🔗 https://lnkd.in/gitkbt3K   You’ll also find invaluable resources, including an insightful session on Pharmacist Prescribing and Risk Mitigation with Jess Hadley from PDL (Pharmaceutical Defence Limited), and a range of CPD-accredited Masterclass content to help you finish the CPD year strong.   Let’s continue to shape the future of healthcare together. Happy World Pharmacists Day! 🎉   #WPD2024 #DedicatedToCare #PharmacistsTransformingHealth

Our annual Trust Your Gut campaign raises awareness of bowel cancer symptoms, what they are and when to act, and we are proud to be partnering with TerryWhite Chemmart and Jodi Lee Foundation Ambassador Kellie Finlayson to spread this message even further. The Trust Your Gut campaign encourages Australians to trust their ‘gut feeling’ when something doesn’t feel right by acting on symptoms and talking to your GP. Kellie urges everyone to take action if they feel something is off. "Cancer doesn’t discriminate. Bowel cancer doesn’t know or care how old you are. So you have to care. You have to trust your gut. Because I do believe in listening to your body. And that listening to your body might just save your life," Kellie says. Bowel cancer is the second deadliest cancer in Australia, and sadly now the leading cancer killer in 25-44 year-olds. Raising awareness for the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer is key to turning these statistics around. For the next few weeks our Trust Your Gut campaign will be featured across TerryWhite Chemmart stores nationally, as well as online and in catalogues. We are thrilled to be partnering with TerryWhite Chemmart to educate more Australians on bowel cancer symptoms and when to speak to the GP if something is not right. Regardless of your age, speak to your GP immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: - Blood in your poo, in the toilet bowl or on the toilet paper, even if only occasional, should never be ignored - A change in bowel habits for longer than two weeks - Frequent gas pains, bloating, fullness or cramps - Unexplained tiredness or weight loss. We have aligned with the Attorney General's initiative to raise awareness of elder abuse in our communities. This educational campaign started in late August and provided resources to our teams to learn about elder abuse and actions they can take. They also received flyers to distribute within their pharmacies for the community to learn what to look for and how to report it. As accessible healthcare providers, we often engage with elderly patients and their families, making us well-suited to identify potential signs of abuse. By leveraging this close connection, we can provide vital education and support through our pharmacies, empowering the community to take action and report suspected abuse. Through this campaign, we aim to protect vulnerable elders and ensure a safer, more supportive environment for all. For more information on elder abuse please visit www.compass.info or to report suspected abuse, or for help please call 1800 353 374. #DedicatedtoCare #communityeducation #endelderabuse

Pharmacists in NSW will soon be able to work to their full scope of practice - meaning patients will be able to receive treatment from an appropriately trained pharmacist for a number of everyday health conditions including ear infections, minor wound care, nausea and reflux. This announcement comes on the back of successful trials and implementation for pharmacists treating UTIs and skin conditions, along with offering repeat prescriptions of the pill. We are thrilled that our NSW pharmacists will now get the same chance as pharmacists in QLD to support better health outcomes in their communities by practicing at their full scope. We look forward to supporting the next co-hort of learners on their journey to become prescribed qualified. #DedicatedToCare
