Auckland Geotechnical Leader and Principal Geotechnical Engineer Chris Armstrong was joined by Cathy Bebelman from Auckland Transport as they presented their joint paper at the 2024 National Lifeline Utilities Forum in Christchurch, New Zealand today. The presentation “Making Auckland’s roads more resilient”, examines using machine learning to model landslide risk and develop an adaptive resilience programme. Tetra Tech Coffey have been working with Auckland Transport to develop a predictive model to assess the locations across the 7500km road network that are most at risk to landslides from significant weather events. The 2024 National Lifeline Utilities Forum: Sustaining Infrastructure Recovery provides an opportunity for attendees to keep up-to-speed with infrastructure resilience developments and critical infrastructure and emergency management reforms, and most importantly network with others with similar passions. Most jobs involve some hazards, and psychosocial hazards can impact a workers’ mental and physical health. This #SafeWorkMonth, Safe Work Australia is encouraging everyone to work together to understand what psychosocial hazards are and how to protect workers’ mental health. While some hazards may not create psychosocial risks on their own, they may do so if combined with other hazards. Considering potential psychosocial hazards and helping our workers manage risk is how Tetra Tech Coffey is supporting the health and wellbeing of our employees in the execution of our projects, no matter where they are in the world. Field work for WHS Consultants Edward Rowley and Sam Martin (pictured) often takes them into demanding, high-risk offshore maritime environments. Participating in BOSIET training at the ERGT Safety Training Centre in Perth, is just one way we are prioritising safety in the workplace to ensure they are well-prepared to manage hazards in the field.
